My dealer needs a favor
So I finally get the call everybody here has been waiting for. My BRZ has just arrived and I can drop by to come pick it up. Unfortunately, I'm pretty tied up with work and need a little time to get my finances straight, so I've arranged to come pick it up this weekend. A few hours later, my dealer, who has so far been a pleasure to work with, but has kept me in the dark for a while (I didn't get any updates from them, and frankly, I was very surprised to hear my car was here, since I was #3 or 4 in the list) called me up asking for a favor. If they can get me to come over and buy the car tmrw (technically end of May), they can get an additional car in their allocation. So my problem is this, do I go out of my way to take the time off work, do a mad scramble to get my finances straight, etc. to be able to make this deal happen by tmrw (believe me, I'm excited as anybody here, but I want this to go as clean and smoothly as possible)? Should I tell tough, I'm a paying customer, do what I want? Should I try to milk a deal from them, granted I'm already getting MSRP? Try to get some options added, etc?

I think it would be worth asking if they can sweeten the deal if they want you to hurry up. It would still be a win-win situation.

Make a deal with them. What dealer is it?

lolwut?
My original dealer was the same as yours, basically called a few days ago and said the car is here. I did them a favor by buying from a different dealer. Unless they are going to sell your car to someone else, go when you are comfortable. Could just be a tactic to get you in the door. |
I'm sure they just want to make their monthly quota. Tell them why you need to wait until the time is right for you, and that if they want you to buy the car today that they will need to do something for you to make it easier on you.

offer them something easy to get you to do it, a few hundred off the price, or a couple free oil changes, or a small credit account to spend at the parts dept. dont go over board and they should be accomodating. they are most likely blowing smoke up your a$$ about the car they get if it sells. its all about their monthly sales numbers.

I wouldn't even try to get them to go down on price. I'd just ask them to throw something in to compensate you for your time. |

The free oil changes idea sounds good. Go for it!

Thanks all for the advice. I like the oil changes idea. I figured since they are already going MSRP that I won't be able to talk the price down any lower. I was, on the other hand, considering to ask them to throw in some options like the plastic trunk protective cover thing. |
