Free Sirius XM for 2 weeks (All BRZs)

I saw on Subaru's Instagram profile that Sirius XM is offering their annual 2 week free Sirius xm radio again in hopes of fishing for potential customers (LOL nice try, I'm too cheap to buy a subscription). I DD about two hours a day in LA traffic, so for everyone else that's suffering from monotonous cricket noises, repeated music playlists, or annoying Nicki Minaj songs about anacondas, then there is brief salvation from Aug 26- sept 8. Thought I'd share with the forum. Enjoy folks!

*disclaimer*: there is no signing up for anything, just hit the Audio button > SAT > free music.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm on the same boat. Its cool but not worth the hassle for me.

Sweet, sounds like a great idea for them to start spamming your email, calling your phone five times a day, and sending junk mail after telling them specially, that you're not interested in the first place. I'd rather get a knee to the groin, thank you very much.

Well, there's no signing up or anything. You just hit the SAT button on your audio interface during these two weeks for music. Unless they have your email on file and they somehow track your navigation to figure out that you're listening then there's bigger problems lol. I just accidentally hit the SAT button instead of the FM button due to the touch screen's subpar touch response and I was surprised the XM was working, which led me to do some googling.

Since you're in SoCal, instead of listening to the same old stuff try 89.9 KCRW.

I politely but firmly told four people that I had no interest in Sirius and had in fact never even turned it on during my trial period. Asked each one to remove me from the list. The fifth person I was pretty hostile towards, and then when I reached a manager I ripped them a new asshole. Four times should have been more than enough to get the system updated. I've had no more calls since then.

Geez looks like everyone's had a bad run with Sirius. They never called me and I usually only listen to a few stations. Guess people are too jaded to even use something for free :iono:

I can't/won't use XM because it really sounds horrible in my car! Even an mpeg on a usb stick sounds way better!!

It's not just bad for you. They use some really crappy codecs. It sounds like crap in my BRZ, my friend's Durango, my uncle's Silverado, my mom's Impala, etc etc etc.

Streaming realplayer streams on my old dialup modem comes to mind.

I don't have it in my FR-S but I do have it in our Suburban only because I get it for a drastically reduced price (ends up being about $60 a year).

Every time it comes up for renewal since our trial period I call to cancel then go through the dance of "how can we keep you", "I only listen to one or two channels so its not worth it", "what if we....". On about the second or third "what if we..." they offer you a 5 month deal for $25.

I've done this for 4 years running now.

Good to know! Thanks for that. I was thinking maybe it was my old sound man ears! LOL

And now that I figured out how to use AHA...I have Pandora and AHA and both are already linked when my Bluetooth links up.

I don't know if I'm just a lucky anomaly or what. But my car has been out of the dealership for over a year now, and I have yet to pay a cent for my XM. At first I thought it was just a free trial that every new owner got, but it's still going strong... I keep waiting for it to finally cut out on me, but for now I'm going to just keep bumpin those beats. :party0030:

I thought I was the only one that used AHA. I like it specifically because it plays random stuff I normally never listen to.
