VIS ams hood and turbo or vortech

Just wondering if there are any heat issues under the hood with things melting or the clear hazing because of the extra heat. those of you using it, do you have any issues with the rain guards warming up too much or any hazing due to the excessive heat of forced induction? Thanks!

in for this also.. @BRZPDX have you had any defects yet from heat?

Not that I can see. I've had the rain guards off since day one so not sure if that piece will hold up.

My car runs very hot, but I do not see any hazing on my hood.

Been a week turbo'd so far so good. *knocks on wood* But it does indeed get hot under the hood, ill be personally looking for the vis ams hood or equivalent seibon in the future.

Hey man so I installed the hood w the guards this morning. I'll see how the hood holds up w my vortech with the 12 psi pulley and report if anything bad happens. There is a guy in az that's boosted w the guards and had no issues. We will see!! btw nice build on ig!!!

I think if you leave the rain guards in place that it will greatly reduce the amount of hot air pulled out of the engine bay.

With the guards removed, those vents have a lot of area.

It vents plenty fine with the guards in place. I personally never take them out in order to keep the engine bay clean. I have had no problems with cosmetics at all either under or on top of the hood. It has been on the car for over a year both with Vortech running 14psi and Turbo 16psi. Underhood temps have always been marginally over IATs.

Good to know, thanks.

I plan on getting this hood in a few months. It'll be winter time so it's good to know it functions well with the guards.

I think the heat escapes better with the guards off, but good to know that they function well with them on. Have you driven in the rain with the guards on? Did it protect the bay pretty well?
