12v Cigarette Lighter Wire Color
 

I just broke my multimeter and I need to know which wires on the center console cigarette lighter is the + one. I think its the white wire. I'm using it as the power to a switch I'm using for fog lights.

The cigarette lighter socket in the console has an all white wire for the +12V and the one in the glove compartment is white w/a black stripe.

confirmed, the glove box lighter socket has +12v switched accessory power on the white wire w/black stripe.


I needed accessory power in the engine compartment, and it was fairly easy to vampire tap this wire and run a shunt wire through the nearby rubber grommet using a coat hanger. If you try this, i recommend you strip the insulation from the factory wire before applying the vampire tap. The factory wire coating is quite tough and the vampire tap may not puncture it.
