How to use Vibrant o2 Spacer for CEL?
Forgive me if this has already been posted as I could not find any information or pitctures of the product being used. I am getting the dreaded CEL because of my Agency Power Header, Ive heard that this spacer is a temporary fix which is all im looking for. But I am not familiar with the way that it is used. Does anyone have pictures using this product? In which 02 sensor does it go in? Im confused because it comes with 3 "spacers" to find your specific solution but I am not 100% that I will know how it is used once I order it. Help would greatly be appreciated! :D

You screw the spacer into the second(furthest down the header) O2 port then screw your oxygen sensor into that.
You may have to experiment with the 3 spacers to see which make your CEL not appear. Make sure you clear this code out when you install the spacer with either a code reader or by disconnecting your battery and resetting your ECU. If you want a cheaper solution spark plug non-foulers are available from any auto parts store for a dollar or two and work perfectly. The only problem you may run into is having to drill a bit out of the non-fouler to allow your O2 sensor to screw completely into it. |
@ Akari. Will the cheaper solution (non fouler) have to be used on BOTH o2's or in just one? Im also going to be running a Invidia catless front pipe, will this also create a CEL?

You are most likely getting CEL P0420, which deals with the secondary O2 sensor. This O2 sensor reads the airflow after the catalytic converters to ensure enough filtration has occurred. By using the spacers/de-foulers, you limit the amount of air reaching the O2 sensor, tricking it into thinking enough filtration has happened and thus raising no CEL.
If you understand that, it should answer most of your questions. |
Just one, and the front pipe won't make a difference as there is no oxygen sensor after the headers.
Running without either cat is a really, really bad idea though. You'll have a constant raw gas smell from the exhaust and it is highly illegal. If I recall correctly violating this law can result in up to a $10,000 file and up to 10 years in prison. There is absolutely no valid reason to run catless on the road. It sounds like you could benefit from reading up on emissions systems before you make one of many mistakes. |

I do know emmissions regulations, I was just curious as to how I was to eliminate a CEL. No need for the extra comment. As far as the violations, I can guarantee Im not the only one using this setup so refrain from putting me on blast with "violations". All I care about is the way the exhaust sounds after completing my full headerback system. There is no need for telling me of the "consequences" We are all grown men who enjoy cars and I'd like to keep this forum that way. :thanks: |

Thats exaclty the code im getting! Im going to be getting OFT soon so according to what I read, I should be able to eliminate the CEL by going this route, and at the same time be able to get some performance :happyanim: |
I have the borla headers and was trying to eliminate the CEL by using the vibrant spacer. Will the spacer didn't work even after trying all 3 sizes I kept getting the P0420 code. I then got the OFT and that definitely worked and the extra performance was a plus :)

I installed a spacer on my Tsudo UEL header today. It's weird though, when I first installed the header I ran almost 1000 miles without a light, then it came on for a day or two then went away. About a week later it came back on.
I just installed the spacer today but haven't driven much so not sure if it will work. If it still comes on I am going to have a o2 sensor bung installed after the secondary cat and put the after-cat sensor there and plug up the secondary sensor location in the header. If I still get it with that, I will add the spacer to that location. $7.95 on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oxygen-O2-Se...d80f3d&vxp=mtr https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...823_155947.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...823_160037.jpg |
There's other ways around it, but O2 simulators are illegal. One can still find the info on how they work if one was to look though...
Also, don't mess with the first O2 sensor. Screwing with the signal from it is a good way to cause engine damage as the first O2 sensor is the one the ECU uses for tuning. |

I'm looking into punching out the cats in the oe header and front pipe. I also have a catback. I'm not looking to re-dyno to reap the power rewards (I'm on ecutek). Its between 400-600 dollars to redyno. I've heard about o2 spacers occasionally. I'm not necessarily worried about the CEL, but I am concerned about fouling the O2 sensors, spark plugs, and the car running poorly. Does anybody have anything to say about O2 spacers? 90 degree vs straight? I understand that you only space the rear o2 sensor |

Be sure to read it all the way to the bottom. Then do a search for openport 2.0 |
