i know this has been asked numerous times but please, help a brother out.

if you guys were going to run a tire that was going to be used mainly on a daily driver as well as about 6 auto cross events a year, what tire (brand) would you choose?

keep in mind that i stated this is a daily driver first and foremost. i would hate to have a lot of road noise.

also this vehicle is located in New York. that doesnt mean that i will drive this car in freezing weather and or snowy conditions. i wont.

ive already decided that itll be 17 inches. and im going with a 255/40/17. thats not negotiable :D

You want a unicorn to ride in the winter as well? You're not going to find a sticky 255 tire that doesn't add weight and an asston of road noise. Best bet is to have a set for daily driving and an autocross set.

ah the sarcastic response. makes you sound like a tough guy and also someone that knows a lot about tires. perfect. i currently have 265/35/18's on my car and dont have much of any road noise. i guess i should have left that out as my exhaust would most likely drown out the road noise anyway. thanks all mighty messiah. your e-presence was felt greatly

My vote would be for RS3s in 255s. Check with @SubiePig for his experience and comments on that setup thus far.

thank you. ive heard nothing but great things about those and i was actually leaning towards them. the price tag isnt bad either.

Its a fast tire. A bit sketchy in a thunderstorm though, so caution where its due.

Bridgestone RE11A

I hear the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 is really good for the money. It is good in both dry and wet. The noise isn't really that bad and they are pretty grippy from what I hear.. (in my honest opinion, I'd just get a loud exhaust to drown out the noise lol)

I'd recommend you consider something narrower than 255 then. Wider tires have a harder time evacuating water.

with a 255, I'd get run a zII or RE11A.

currently i have 265 Michelin PSS that tear through the water with no issues. sadly, they dont make 255 PSS, only 245. or i cant find the 255's. otherwise id get those. itll probably come down to direzza's or re11a's
