UEL drone w/ perrin 3.0 res?

I have been looking everywhere for the answer to my hypothetical question but can't seem to find it. Forgive me if the answer is somewhere on this forum. I've been considering a UEL header for a while now, I really want a bit more sound out of my exhaust (perrin catback, 3.0 midpipe and resonated) and I'd love to fill that torque dip. The Tomei looks really nice for the price but I have to make long drives between Arizona and California for school. Would the drone make me want to kill myself if I went with the UEL? :iono:

I have a 2.5 reso Perrin with the Tomei UEL. No drone at all, also drive long ass distances (prob not as much) with it definitely subtle when cruising.

I feel as if the .5 in would make much of a difference.

inb4 size jokes

Okay that's reassuring. Thanks for the response! Does the 2.5 tend to be much quieter than the 3.0?

Yes, and less raspy. That .5 inches made me sell my Nameless 3" exhaust setup because it sounded like a mexican fartcan that Jose did for $50 bucks at the local muffler shop.

i have a JDL UEL with Perrin 2.5"op / 3" front catted front pipe and res catback
zero drone, just pure sexy deep boxer rumble. This setup sounds amazing. deep. low tone, ZERO drone. Zero rasp. i honestly need to stop being so effin lazy and post a vid.

Have you heard Perrin's before? It's really smooth, that's actually why I bought it in the first place.

Well when you do, post it up here! I'd love to hear it.

Depends on what aftermarket header you pair it with. It can drone a bit with a catless UEL but the resonator on the catback is pretty decent sized. I'm almost willing to bet majority of the sound comes from the 3" front pipe though.

Please do! That setup sounds nice

The main thing is keeping a cat in the FP. Hell just keep the stock FP. Should cut mod of the drone if not all.

Perrin's 3" catback is going to be quieter and less raspy than the Nameless due to the larger muffler but I have a hunch it's still going to be louder than you'll want with a UEL header. I suggest looking up some clips - I'm sure someone out there has a similar setup to yours.

3" exhausts are intended for high-HP FI applications (turbo in particular) where the additional flow rate from the larger diameter is needed, and the turbo blower helps quiet down the exhaust note to begin with.

Just to clarify, loudness isn't the issue. I'm looking for more volume. Drone is my only concern

I've got a similar 3" and UEL setup and no sign of drone. I absolutely love this setup and would highly recommend it to everyone. Check out my before and after video below.

Setup:
Revworks UEL Header
Perrin 2.5 Inch Overpipe
Perrin 3 Inch Front Pipe With Cat
Perrin 3 Inch Catback System with Resonator
Perrin Exhaust Hangers
AEM Tuned Cold Air Intake Using Stock MAF Sensor
FT86SpeedFactory Ecutek Stage 2 Tune
