OEM Intake Air Box
Changed my air filter this weekend and in the process noticed this black box "thing" attached to the filter air box (passenger side). What the heck is it?

OEM Intake Air Box
I think it functions as a resonator to reduce intake noise. Many oem air boxes have it now days.

I didn't realize intakes were that noisy. Maybe it has something to do with the sound tube.
the one attached with a tube? thats the noise generator. it pipes intake noise into the cabin. if you're talking about the boxes directly onto the intake they are Helmholtz resonators and cancel out certain frequencies so either help with power or to quiet it down.
Yea I was inquiring about the box directly on the air filter box.
Most cars come with them these days, and have for quite a while.
Most times they are "hidden"... On my acura it's under the battery, and behind the bumper. It's just that the twins resonator is right out in plain sight.
