Speedfreak Detailing (Opti-Coat, windows, SHINEY!)

just wanted to put this out there for those of you in the DMV area. i just had my brz Opti-Coated (it's now a verb, deal with it) by Brian over at Speedfreak, and i'm super impressed with pretty much everything. quality, service, transparency, schedules, flexibility, pricing... everything. also, he didn't try to push a bunch of extra stuff at me, and he's given me a lot of really good wash and care info.

he fit me in on a compressed schedule, and let me work on my car in his space between the opti-coat and gtechniq applications (the had to order the window stuff, which is why there was a gap). also, i no longer have to use my wipers, this window stuff is great ^_^

anyways, if you're looking for detailing, opti-coat, window things, i'd highly recommend him.

(no, he didn't give me a discount to post this :P)

here's some pictures of the work he did.

Looks good. How much did you pay for the prep work and Opti-coat and where is the shop located? I couldn't find it on their website.

Again congrats on the opti-coat! I have to ask, did you get your clear bra installed here as well?

Alita 08-18-2014 01:00 PM

I had David at Prosheildinc do my clear bra. he did a great job, i was really pleased with the work.

the prep work and application on Opti-Coat came out to around $700. i had swirls and things from the dealership washing my car >.<

their shop is in chantilly, i'm not sure why it isn't listed on their site, but he'll send you the address when you set up an appointment.

I have two questions about this since I'm considering having this done?

How much was the clear bra and which parts of the car were done?

Alita 08-18-2014 06:37 PM

i had full hood, fenders, front bumper, and front of roof done. i think there were also some door wells and trunk lip done. it turned out to be around $1200.

Hi guys,

Brian @ SpeedFreak Detailing here. Just wanted to chime in and say thanks to Nicole for the shout out. Was a pleasure meeting and working on her car! If we can help out with anything else, drop us a line through our website or PM here on the forums.

Unfortunately, as of yesterday Optimum (the maker of Opti Coat) just dropped a 300% price increase on ALL authorized installers. Obviously because of this significant price hike, all future installs will be more costly to perform. We can quote on an individual basis, but I wanted to put this out there to avoid any confusion regarding future pricing.

Look forward to serving your detailing needs in the DC/Northern VA area.

Regards,

Brian Lewis

Nice

First they take away the discount and then they add the markup. Classy lol

That sucks, but being that labor is 70% of the cost of a detail with any detailers in this area (based on the prices I'm seeing on the forum and the worst case commercially purchased material costs freely available on the internet), you should easily be able to compensate without passing that ridiculous cost on to customers in its entirety. Just sayin...

:bonk:

aznatama 09-03-2014 10:01 AM

I think there's probably a minimum labor cost that they have to abide by to be qualified as an authorized installer. Legal price fixing, yay...
