2 rubber grommets in the glove box

Finally took delivery of my car last night but found 2 rubber grommets in the glove box still in the bag. The bag says it's for pre-inspector to place them in the sill. Not sure what that is for, anyone?

I forgot what it said exactly on the bag, I'll look again when I get home from work.

There are two holes in the rear sub-frame just in front of the wheels. Look in the area of the rear jack points. The plugs go there. Your Dealers should have done this on their PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)

This.

If you look under the body right before the rear wheels you will see 2 holes. One per side. They pop in. I installed mine. No lifting of the vehicle required. Takes 2 mins at the most.

Wonder what it's for and why dealership didn't install them.

BRZ in Alaska!! That'll be a rare sight! Are you the first one?

ahausheer 05-30-2012 02:06 PM

Those rubber grommets are essentially plugs to prevent stuff (animals/ road crud) from getting in the frame. There are holes in the frame from manufacturing. Dealers often forget to install these, but it does show that your dealer did not do the pre-inspection completely. I wouldn't worry but its annoying at the same time.

Yup I was the first. but now there is a silver one in town. more on the way.

But on topic. I printed out the PDI inspection form for the BRZ. Its about a 30 page document lol.

Appears as though those holes are used for tie down used during transportation.

mechaghost 05-30-2012 03:59 PM

Happened to me as well when I took delivery of teh BRZ. Good thing I caught it while I was picking up the car, the dealership installed it in 2 minutes.

Any chance you could upload this somewhere for us? I'd love to see what the list consists of!

And we can only see it in HTML format. Hard part is SOA has legal control of their web stuff. It's not like the current STIS system where you pay for access to download the PDF files. We should get the PDF stuff soon, the cars are on the ground!

View the page, hit [SEE BELOW], copy all of the code, paste it here, send me the link to the paste, and I'll take it from there.

I'll see what I can do :) It was passed on to me from someone else. I used to work for a subaru dealership but I don't have STIS access anymore either.

Mr. feedbag, that is what the SOA web cops are looing for. Last thing I want is this entire site shut down buy lawyers and big money. They have done it before and WILL do it again. There was a day when you could DL the entire SM for any Subaru freely, then SOA decided "We own that" and things changed.

Hanzo 05-31-2012 07:47 AM

Installed them last night. It was very easy, thanks guys!

ashtray 06-02-2012 03:37 PM

My dealer didn't install them either. Too me 4 seconds to find the hole, 2 seconds to install. 2nd side took only 2 seconds.

Hole is located about a foot in front of rear tire, right behind the pinch weld. Easier to feel for than to see, but is visible.

blu_ 06-02-2012 03:40 PM

Need to go do mine right now before I go on my Sat drive :/

blu_ 06-02-2012 03:50 PM

Boosh!!! done :)

Good amount of work for a Saturday.

poudre 06-29-2012 09:47 AM

My plugs were NOT installed either

Dizz1e 07-01-2012 08:08 PM

BRZ owner here. I too found these in glove box. Took just one minute to find the holes and pop em in. Is disheartening when it even says right on the packaging the dealer is supposed to install them during the pre-inspection.

sbxjap 07-01-2012 09:02 PM

I keep forgetting to install mine, lol

Sayfailo 07-02-2012 01:06 PM

Mine didn't come installed but luckily the bag included instructions for doing so. Speaking of incomplete PDI, I still had a wrapper on a panel where the back "seats" are and some left over crud from the edges of the white body stickers.

I found the crud during first car wash and it freaked me out, thought someone keyed my trunk.

The exact same thing happened to me, I thought someone had keyed my back fender, and almost had a heart attack until I realized it was just crud that had stuck to the adhesive that was left behind from the sticker. The dealership just didn't go a very good job with the initial detail.

download the BRZ shop manual here.

the Pre-Delivery Inspection is covered from pages 55-72. every new owner should do their own PDI just in case. if there are any problems, it's better to know them sooner than later.

ihaskrayon 09-01-2013 12:27 PM

That's what these are! I read a while back about it, but I couldn't find it in the search, so I just waited until someones else found it haha. I'll pop them in when I do my exhaust

White64Goat 09-01-2013 02:14 PM

Anyone still have the clear plastic protection stuck to the plastic edge of the side panel trim where you enter into the back seat?

I just noticed and removed them a few days ago... Nobody can fit into the backseats, so I didn't even see them until we flipped the seat forward to put a bag back there. :)
