Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to give those of you RHD Toyobaru owners an update on our progress! We have been back and forth with some folks in Australia working on nailing down our final dimensions. Because our R&D and fabrication all happens here in the US, the back and forth nature of the prototyping process takes a smiiiiidge longer than it would if we had a RHD car in our R&D facility :thumbdown:. That said, we're getting pretty close on this and are hoping to come out with our revised product shortly! In the meantime, I thought you may enjoy seeing how our fabricator, Mike, produces a prototype bracket to match our computer model with accuracy and precision. First, the computer model is sent to our waterjet cutter. I don't have a photo of this particular part being cut, but you can see some other examples and learn about the machine here. Once the part is cut, Mike uses numerous tools and equipment to create the bends, angles, and pivots necessary in the design. He uses a caliper and a highly precise compass to ensure the dimensions are spot on. https://engineering.mishimoto.com/wp...10/MG_9380.jpg https://engineering.mishimoto.com/wp...10/MG_9398.jpg Next, Mike puts the part into a sandblaster, and uses the gun within to barrage the bracket with grains of sand, removing any oils, surface corrosion, or blemishes from the surface of the metal. https://engineering.mishimoto.com/wp...10/MG_9406.jpg Here is the bracket after this step: https://engineering.mishimoto.com/wp...10/MG_9409.jpg Careful not to touch the metal and transfer any oils from his skin, Mike uses lint-rags so give the part a final once-over before paint. Here's the bracket drying after paint: https://engineering.mishimoto.com/wp...10/MG_9450.jpg Once cured, this bracket is off to a land down-under for test fitment on a Toyota 86! Thanks for sticking with us, everyone, -Gardiner |
Thank you @Mishimoto for sending me the prototypes to test fit. Took a few versions but we got there eventually.
The final bracket fits properly on our RHD 86/BRZ with a comfortable distance from the brake lines. No modifications needed for installing the catch can kit now. Have already tested it on the track. All is good. Catch Can works; Bracket holds tight with no unnecessary contact points. **Thumbsup** http://imgur.com/N9gCnjF.jpg http://imgur.com/PE9w7HL.jpg |

After one oil change interval ~5k, more than one tablespoon of gunk. Awesome product! :thumbup:

Thanks H@Zmat for the photo!
Just as an update, we have officially confirmed the amended fitment for cars in RHD markets, and the brackets are now available for all you right-hand drive Toyobaru owners out there! Special thanks to everyone who helped out with R&D and testing. -Gardiner |
Leaking?
@Mishimoto
After 8 track days and months since I posted here about the success of the RHD catch can, it would seem I have run into a new issue(?) Despite having it tighten as much as possible, oil seem to seep out, albeit very little, from the Can and the hose attachments. There were also very tiny droplets of oil on the upper curve of the hoses as well. (Not photographed because I wiped it before thinking about photographing it) I have just sent a support ticket to Mishimoto and thought I ask here to see if anyone else have this happening as well? *Edit: No, it's not full, there a few drops worth in the can* http://i.imgur.com/GZOL96l.jpg |

I just purchased this Mishimoto catch can from a New Zealand distributor (it just arrived today). Just wondering if I have the correct bracket for the RHD cars before I open the packaging? It has the following label: Mishimoto 278 Mounting Bracket for MMBCC-BRZ-13P I can also provide serial number, but date on the label appears to be 18/01/2017 Thank you |

You should be good to go! All of our AU/NZ stock should have been switch out with the proper RHD bracket, especially if it was packaged in January of this year. @Pineapple sorry I didn't see your post until now. Was customer service able to help you out? Thanks, -Steve |

Not sure how I am meant to get the clip tight for the out valve on the engine bay, so leaving that off. Just going to install them on the catch can side only. |

Let me know if that works or if you need any other help! -Steve |
any reason why this can disappeared on official website for our cars?

https://www.mishimoto.com/subaru-brz...an-pcv-13.html If you're referring to the original one, it didn't fit the RHD models due to brake lines so it was revised. The one pictures on the website is the original. Hoses are also a little different and the new can comes with aluminum fittings now. |
