How to Use an MP3 Player

Is it possible to connect and play something other than an iPod on the audio system on a BRZ limited? I've attempted to play a RCA MP3 player by simply plugging it into the USB port that's located below the rear defroster button. However, the audio system does not seem to recognize anything that's plugged into that port other than an iPod.

If anyone has any information on how to play an MP3 player through the BRZ audio system, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jason

Have you tried an auxiliary cord?

Sure. I do it all the time. You need a mini phono (stereo) 3.5mm (1/8") to mini phono cable (male to male) that will go from your mp3 player to the Aux jack that's right under the usb port. Set your head unit to Aux and crank it up! :D

i just load songs on a pen drive and plug it directly into the USB.

As was already mentioned you could use the AUX connection, but you would only be able to hear the music being played, not control the device through the HU.

Another option is the flash drive with music, which you would control via the HU.

A third, not mentioned option is bluetooth. You can stream music from a bluetooth connected device like your phone and have control over playback.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'll buy the appropriate cable and try the Auxiliary port. I'm just surprised the USB port didn't work.
