Long sitting maintenance?
 

Stationed in Korea. Sitting here at work. Day dreaming about my FRS that is sitting in a U-Haul temp controlled storage unit in Florida only being started by my dad every 2 weeks. 10 months to go until I can drive my baby again. Sad face. :( What should I do right when I get back maintenance wise? I'm chaning the oil, tranny fluid, and rear diff fluid. Might change the tires depending on how well they held up. Anything else?

I think the transmission fluid and rear diff fluid can stay.

I would be more concerned about the brake fluid and the battery.

It's important to add forced induction after a long period of inactivity.

I'm pretty sure you looked up how much it would cost to ship a car to different countries. How much would it cost to do yours?

Did you pump up the tires to their max inflation pressure? This helps to avoid flat spotting during long storage periods. I'd also keep the battery on a tender if possible, which should protect it just fine. If your Dad could take the car out to fully heat up the engine every month or so it would help boil off fuel and moisture that gets into the oil system. A lot of cold starts with short run periods tend to aggravate this. I agree about changing the brake fluid. Might as well put in some higher performance stuff when you get home.

The battery should be kept on a tender. Just starting it every two weeks may not be enough to keep the voltage on the battery up, and the battery will degrade if the voltage is held low for too long. If you don't have an outlet in the storage unit, you might just want to take it out of the car and tend it elsewhere.

Gas goes bad too. I would drain the tank, or at the very least add some fuel stabilizer. Even if you do add stabilizer, it will only keep the gas for a few months ...

If you take the battery out and put it on a tender, and drain the gas, you shouldn't have to touch it at all until you get back.

Agree with all the above comments. Best course of action is for your dad to give it a nice long drive once a month to make sure the engine is fully warmed and tires heated up. Also cycle the ac to keep all those seals lubricated. Battery tender is a must, as is fuel stabilizer. Keep the tank fairly full to prevent condensation in it due to water vapor.
