Using boomerangs as DRLs on BRZ... Not both
 

Can someone with some electrical knowledge help me out please? I like the boomerangs on the BRZ when they are on only by themselves. I don't want them to be on with the headlights or with the factory BRZ DRLs. Would there be any issues if I just wired the power wire that feeds the boomerangs to power wire that runs the DRLs? I don't want to splice into the DRLs but actually cut the wire and run it to the boomerangs. Would that result in the boomerangs acting like the DRLs?... In that they would automatically turn on when the car is on and turn off with the ebrake and headlights? I would then just wire the DRLs to a switch so I could turn them on and off as I pleased.

If that doesn't work is there any other way to accomplish what I am wanting to do? Would it be easier/possible to just wire both lights up to separate switches so I could turn them on and off whenever?
