Any of the non-EGR intakes should work. The EGR compatible intakes have a longer neck for the throttle body that could interfere with the stock hood.

Edit:found the answers to my questions after more research so no need for me to waste your time with questions I already know the answers too.

Thanks

Interesting pod cast with Slip Angle with Terry Fair from Vorshlag Motorsports and the FRS engine swap, and in manys opinions, why they are the best at what they do.

Couple hundred miles with car with temps in the 90's :burnrubber:,...transmission working great as well as the car.....very unassuming sleeper. Absolutely perfect execution by Vorshlag Motorsports :happyanim: . Car is in for serious gauges ( as I really shouldn't of been driving it blind as I was) but I trusted their work and checked levels religiously. At Vorshlag now, as I stated above, sway bar (front) as a new bend or relocate is in order because of interference with header collectors. Canbus fix is a week or two out. Gauges will look exactly like this Miata but will be where the FRS radio goes. This car was made for this swap.

Ever thought of using an Android Head Unit with an OBD2-USB adapter to display the gauges, while maintaining the stereo functionality?

You'd still need something to display oil pressure, unless your CANBUS guy can integrate an oil pressure sensor into the bus, but atleast you get to keep your stereo. Otherwise something like these would maintain the sleeper aspect. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=88

Will the stock gauges (instrument cluster) function with the Canbus fix?

Yes they should all work.....but for track use you need real time gauges for added insurance.

I know you guys said to not ask when it's being released... but we're hitting (-)degC temps here in Canada and the cars are going into storage mode...soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Newfoundland_scion_frs 10-31-2015 11:46 AM

Patiently waiting for this kit to become available..already have my salvage frs ready for body work and paint(replaced every body panel besides passenger door/passanger rear quater/rear bumper and trunk lid) and have my fully rebuilt ls1 well underway

http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...psgsks0sin.jpg

One question I have,is the tremec magnum xl the only tranny that will be bolt in for this kit?or will a t56 out of a Gto work aswell?i know the new tremec don't use a remote shifter and obviously is a better tranny but a new tremec will cost me over 6 grand (living here in Canada) and where I work at a auto salvage yard I can get a t56 out of a Gto for less then 1500 I would be ok with a little less shift comfort to save 4500+ dollars(I only payed 4200$ for my
Driveable salvage frs and another 4600 to return in it in pefect stock condition with after market complete exhaust, intake, pulleys(which come on the car when I got it) and winjet headlights/taillights,and a duck bill spoiler(which i ordered) so saving 4500 on the build is a pretty big deal)

cf6mech 11-01-2015 01:45 PM

@Newfoundland_scion_frs If your mechanically inclined you can figure it out with a remote shifter.....possible a donor from a GTO? But you will need a different trans mount solution , and a different drive shaft other than whats provided with the Vorshlag kit.

Newfoundland_scion_frs 11-01-2015 02:00 PM

@cf6mech..that's the answer i was expecting,I'm very mechanically inclined so the Gto t56 may be my best option,or Ya never know I maybe buying the new tremec if I can source it for the right price...thanks a lot for you response and I will be following this thread and the vorschlag blog religiously awaiting the release date for the kit..I also need the wiring harness vorschlag had custom built, built my ls1 to be the mirror image of the one you have in your car so that spec built wiring harness will come in handy, when you get a chance could you PM me the manufacturer of that engine harness so I can order the same one

cf6mech 11-01-2015 02:05 PM

1 Attachment(s)
These gauges are fully programable with both high low warnings....and high memory peak recall....perfect for track use.

Pretty sure the harness will be proprietary to Vorshlag, but you could check with them.

Ok will do,just I hate to bother a company that is so busy but I'll check with them,if I have to order my own stand alone harness(making my Own messurements, connector details,ECT.)..and make my own tranny mount and a custom drive shaft, I would Be better off making the swap kit myself and ordering the headers/engine mounts alone from vorshlag or another vender that makes them...never the less thank you very much for your Input,I greatly Appreciate your time and knowledge!

This kit precludes anyone from having to do research....fabrication....trial and error (which can eat up a lot of time and expense) and puts the engine in the most ideal position. I'm not associated with them in any way, not even a designated "Vorshlag Test Pilot" of which they have many. So my reviews and comments are strictly customer based. My background is 30 year mechanical in the Aviation industry and I know sound engineering when I see it working with Boeing and Airbus products daily. So going with as many of their kit products is the way to go, it may save you money in the end. These guys are ridiculously thorough in their products and have been doing kit swaps for years. Yes they are extremely busy and you may have to wait. But in the end it will be worth it.

I hope it's worth it in the end! I have a L33 currently in the process of being rebuilt and I want to buy some swap parts before the CDN dollar gets even worse

Then you best head down and buy some U$D soon, because if the US raises interest rates and Canada does not, our paper wont be worth a damn!:confused0068:

If I were looking at this swap, I would not hesitate to get going on it with this kit; you already know the car is going to run. There might still be some details to sort out, but most people take one or two years to complete a swap, and I am confident that a solution will be in place by then, not just because of this one car, but because of the progress I see in Can-bus hacking across the entire car hobby.

cf6mech 12-08-2015 08:20 PM

This month, can- bus solution in a "unique" and innovative way will happen hopefully to the Vorschlag swap car,....its being done out of country as there doesn't seem to be anybody yet nationally to do the work and offer it as a sellable part. It being done out of country is the reason for the delay, but from what I have heard and seen it will be well worth the wait.

A product with different versions at a decent price point......price point I'm not privy to at the moment but was promised reasonably priced.....there's alot more to this unit of which I can not discuss till probably I get it in the car and working.

Vorschlag would have to speak to that....I'm only the customer. Jason from Vorschlag does come on this site once in awhile maybe he will say.

Newfoundland_scion_frs 12-09-2015 05:01 PM

@cf6mech thank you very much for the update,I will Continue to check into this thread religiously until I see a release date/price for the kit,and if reasonably priced I'll have my visa waiting :D...thanks again
