Will you get one?

yesterday I got a msg that by Nov of this year san diego county laboratory (place I work now) will be sponsored by Chevrolet and we may get the volt as our official car and with that is we get a $5000 discount on top of the govt rebate (don't know yet how much more is the govt rebate they need to clear that out). Good thing is I'm not going thru a dealer so no mark up price and all that BS they put on it and I get a 220volt charger for free. Bad part is I don't think its going to be roomier than my G20 (my daily car)? question is qill you get one if your in my shoes?

Hard to say. Idea is great, but it is GM that's doing it so...?

No

GameOvr 08-24-2010 08:29 PM

what kind of warranty(s) does GM offers?

RRnold 08-24-2010 09:08 PM

The Volt goes for 33K. Is it going to be your car or a company car?

If its specfically for you, I say don't do it b/c in the end, its still a Chevy and you'll just add another monthly payment...

Yeah on the back of my mind no long term test yet so can't be sure, Its a good idea reading more about it on autoblog and other sites saying that it will take more than 8yrs for the car to start paying you back, Don't get me wrong I don't discriminate on brands.

@ my work, all the company cars are either Altima Hybrids, Prius or Highlander Hybrids. I agree with your friends. :happy0180:

I'd wait to see what happens with gm's ipo offerings first and might want to buy a different brand or wait a short amount of time to see what happens first with the company.

The biggest reason for caution in my opinion is that if gm(gov't motors) is unable to successfully restructure, the company could be liquidated and its assets sold off to pay creditors. It is a worst-case scenario, As long as the possibility of liquidation exists then the fate of all of gm’s offerings would be uncertain. If you do want to buy the car and are worried about selling it then that's all supply and demand and couldn't be figured out till the market speaks.
