Sounds like you're going around 80mph, slow it down a little and you'll wonder why anyone bothers to get a Prius for long commutes :confused0068:

I don't mind the intake noise either.

I'm supposedly averaging 25mpg on my first tank and that's with getting under 10mpg for the first 20 miles. 75% highway, but with a lot of enthusiastic driving.

edit: this is on a manual.

At 70 mph is it quiet enough to make a phone call with the handsfree?

No I was going 50 to 65 mostly, beside some passing and one pull, but was rowing gears and varying speed to help break in. Also a lot of spirited mountain twisties involved. Nothing assanine.

I think so. Road noise is there but not bad. No rattles at all on local washboard roads either. I will make a note to think about your question tomorrow on the way to work.

You heard me, 34.3 MPG. I took a trip to Yakima, WA this weekend which was a 363 mile trip. Not only did I make it all the way on a single tank of gas, but I averaged 34.3 MPG. I'm thinking that I probably could have got closer to 34.5 MPG but since I passed the 1000 mile break-in just before my trip I had a little fun. My speedometer now reads 1800 miles, I definitely haven't been light on the driving.

The trip was absolute blast! The driving was so fun I wouldn't trade this car for anything. The only downside was the road noise. It got pretty loud in the vehicle, so loud in fact that it was difficult to hear the radio. I will definitely be installing some sound-dampening material in the door panels. But other than that, this car is amazing! If you are still undecided on whether or not you want to buy the car you gotta be out of your damned mind. I can assure anyone this thing will be one of the funnest cars to drive, whether it be in the city or the highway.

good numbers, just like it is rated!

I actually stayed at 72mph... The road noise wasn't terrible, but compared to my parents cars (Audi S5 and Cadillac Escalade) it was really bad. I just couldn't hear my music.

Those are two well insulated luxury vehicles. True story, my mother's A5 convertible is quieter with its top down on the highway than my Jeep is with windows shut at 25 mph.

Not able to hear the radio at 72 sounds pretty bad

I have an FR-S but I would assume the cabin noise would be similar. I've had several handsfree conversations on the phone at 65-75MPH with no issues. I also have never had to turn the stock radio up past about 35 to hear it clearly. The FR-S radio does have a higher wattage rating though.

Well that sounds about right for the automatic.

That's as impressive as the guy with the auto getting 34+mpg. Under 10? Rock on with yo bad self! :w00t:

Hehe. I don't know if its was stop and go traffic or what but my mileage sucked at first. I actually wasn't hooning it too hard.
