Texas (south) meet and Track?
Hello hello everyone. With some already getting their cars off the lots and the June 1st official release (for those dealerships sticking to the launch date).....I thought it would be cool if south texas (or further if you don't mind a drive) had a meet/ track day. Could maybe plan something late June. If anyone wants to throw out some ideas for a location, let's hear it. :happy0180:
Look foward to a meet and to know some of my fellow FR-S brothers:burnrubber: |
I would be down for something towards the end of June.

The local Texas old school AE86 forum: www.86garage.com is planning a Texas wide 86 meet on the weekend of 8/4 (8/6 is a Monday). New 86's and BRZ's are welcome! I think the plan is to meet in Austin, eat, drive Lime Creek Road, and just chill out for the weekend.
Sign up and give any thoughts or suggestions! |
If I get my FR-S in time, I'm down for this.

I've convinced some of my co-workers into going to MSR Houston at the end of June (6/21) for Red Meat and Race Fuel.
When I originally found out about this the cost was $75 and it occurred twice a month...was and excellent deal! Then over the weekend it jumped to $200 and once a month, with an explanation of why linked to a letter on the page - so no longer an excellent deal, but about par for a track day. Passed 300 miles on my FR-S today and I've had her since Friday - so I should be able to easily get done with recommended break in in time. I would be up for a meet as well! |
Wow. That's quite a jump on their pricing. So 4 from Houston and one from Austin, (nice to meet you guys :happy0180: ) .....so MSR could be one thing... or FrX suggested a casual meet at a local bar/resturant here in houston. What do you guys think so far?

Anyone gonna head out to Cars-and-Coffee ( http://www.houstoncac.com/ ) on Saturday?

I think I'll go; need to put more mileage on the car anyways to get through the 1k mile break-in quicker... :D |
I am definitely gonna be there. Either in the SC or the FR-S. I have a friend with a 350Z that has been bugging me to head out there forever.

We're actually going to be hosting a Toyota meet at my shop on 6/22 in Sealy. We're pretty central to Houston, Austin, and San Antonio and I have a ton of parking. I'd love to meet some of the other new FR-S owners, and there will probably be a few cool cars on and off the dyno before the meet is over.
We have it posted on Houston Imports and NewCelica.org as well. No set start or end time, but I imagine people will start to show up around 5:30 / 6 as they get off work and we will go till we all get bored. BBQ is highly likely (probably caravan over to Hinze's at some point or I'll grill up some burger and dogs - depending on attendance) |
Sweet. Boosted, your event on 6/22 sounds like something a few of us should do (put some miles on our cars) and I think a meet out to Coffee and Cars would be awesome.... not too far from me... have no idea why I've never been. lol. :bonk:
My delivery date has been pushed to about June 13th or so (waiting for my first choice Ultramarine) so something to the end of the month like that would rock. |
Got my car home today. I will now definitely be out at Coffee and Cars this weekend.

Cars and Coffee was a great time... had seven 86's there I saw (including mine): 1 Lightning Red BRZ, 1 Firestorm FR-S, 2 Asphalt FR-S, 1 Ultramarine FR-S, 1 Raven FR-S, and 1 Whiteout FR-S. We were all parked about in the same area except for the Raven FR-S (it was parked between 2 Aston Martins [V8 Vantage and Virage] and was actually about the same height, just barely taller by maybe 1/2"...) I didn't take any pictures of the 86's but did take a few of some of the other vehicles with my brothers Point-N-shoot which you can check out here:
http://vracer111.smugmug.com/Cars/St...8714&k=nzmg3LL Nice event, I would go again! I will tell you this, all the '86s sure grabbed a LOT of attention from everyone; I met a lot of people and let them check it out and answered questions, etc. Everyone was impressed with it and wanted one, especially after sitting in the seats... "are those optional seats?" would be the question of the day... LOL. Really only spent time with one other FT86club member (one of the First 86 owners with an Asphalt MT FR-S like mine) as I was one of the first ones there and walked around some...maybe a more formal meet next time? At least the trip there and back put an additional 125miles on the car... so after a little over 1 week of ownership I'm over half way through break in at 557 miles. I also went to the Pasadena Gun Show today and finally sold two firearms at a slight loss from what I was wanting...but I didn't care as I now can order the wheels for my FR-S! Just need to make the decision on which 17x8 Enkei Racing wheel... the good looking one or the lightweight one....arrrrggg! Both are lighter than stock though... |
Nice pics! Glad to hear the 86's got some attention; there are a lot of spectacular cars out there. Stupid question that I'm pretty sure I know the answer to, but did they let you guys park in the display area?
Very glad to hear there are several Houston owners with their cars now, and thanks the postings about the meets ahead to those who shared. I definitely want to make one of those ahead; saving up for my FR-S/BRZ at the moment. |
