Oil Change Frequency

Does anyone happen to know what the recommended length between oil changes / servicing is for this car?

I've been reading the BRZ manual but its not listed in there (unless I missed it). What sort of milage does the book recommend? It would be nice to hear from an owner on this.

I wonder if its anything like the new Ford Fiesta? That thing does 10,000 miles between oil changes.

My (Scion) manual says 7,500 miles.

Thank you. I've been trying to find a Scion manual online but I guess its not posted yet due to the paperwork delay we are seeing.

That seems correct to me.

Interesting, I looked through the BRZ manual again and you're right, it doesn't say it anywhere.

Did you notice that it refers you to a maintenance guide book?

I haven't been able to find this guide online. That's exactly why I thought I would post and ask.

It is listed in the Warranty/Maintenance manual: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6689

3750 miles for heavy city driving conditions, scion complimentary service cycle is 5000 miles but my rep said I can do it 1000 miles early so I'm getting one at 1000 miles after break in and at 5000.

Title change. Now, it reads FR-S quick reference guide and Warranty & maintenance guide.

Just to confirm my manual says every 7,500 miles. The only thing I'm wondering about is if we still need to change it at 3,000, then again at 7,500, and from there follow the regular maintenance schedule, or skip the 3,000 mile oil change all together.

Draco-REX 06-03-2012 09:18 AM

The Maintenance manual says the first oil change is at 7500 and every 7500 after that.

However, severe duty driving (lots of short trips of 3-5 miles, heavy engine load, lots of bumper-to-bumper travel, dirty/dusty areas) brings the intervals down to 3750.

I plan to change at 1000, 4000, and then every 4000 after that as I intend to AutoX it now and then and my daily trip to work is only 7 miles.

That sounds like a good plan.

Someone needs to post up a full self oil/filter change video.

For the first oil change (right after break in 1000 miles) does anyone know if manufacturer put in a special type of "break in oil". I read my manual today, but didn't see anything specific. Kinda scary to go 7500 miles for first oil change right after break in. Even with complimentary service oil changes from scion @ every 5000 miles.

I'm sitting at 500 miles atm, and am wondering when to change the oil so I can drive it hard. I have not revved past 5K so far... just wondering. (also scared that the dealership won't have 0W 20, I guess I have to call them and ask, never hurts to ask.

Im above 1000 miles and Im still on the fence as to change it or not. The car is probably going back on the dyno soon, so maybe for precaution's sake I should change it.
Ill probably be doing 4-5k changes depending on how much I drive it, how severe the heat is here, and how many times it sees the track.
