donating etiquette

I want to donate to a charitable cause but I'm face with a dilemma.
1.donate anonymously: I don't want to look self righteous by displaying my name and amount, but i feel strongly about the cause and want to show that i truely support it.
2. Donate with name and amount listed: i want to show people that i proudly support the cause, but i feel that by showing my name and amount it'll come across as a selfish act.

What would you do? What's the correct approach?

#2 because who cares what they think.

Are there really people that are going to hassle you for donating to a charity?

Not sure if there are people that'll haggle me, but it's a local thing and I'm sure the others that may or may not donate will definitely see it.

Well, the option I would choose is not up there, which would be display name but not amount, so I would have to choose #2. If you feel that strongly about showing your support, show your name.

Great option, I'll double check on that option. I'm sure they should have a name only Option .

When I donate I usually research the organization or foundation first. That or stick to a very reputable company. Sad to see but there are too many scams and fake companies putting up a front as a charity and just walking off with bunches of money. What's the point of donating if the money never gets to where it should be?

For me it depends. I do some drives myself as well so if I'm donating to someone that I know would donate back when I'm doing something I'll show my name, otherwise I usually just do anonymous.

Sell your phantom supercharger, give the proceeds to a charity, and buy real forced induction.

I always donate anonymously. About a decade ago I gave a sizable donation to non-profit and now they won't stop fucking calling me.

^This. My parents did the same thing one time and they get calls every month despite their requests to have their number removed from the list.

I also learned to do homework on the charities. Alot of these foundations "running cost" eat up a huge chunk of donations.
