Email from VIC dealer saying end July/early August delivery for my pre-order
 

Hi Guys,

With all the recent news about the ft 86 media release coming up, and actual cars in australia, I emailed my dealer (Brighton Toyota where I pre-ordered a Dark Grey Manual GT) to ask if they knew when my car would be arriving.

They replied via email to say “Your 86 is scheduled to arrive at the dealership at end of July / Early August at the latest”


Not sure if that is good or bad news, but has anyone else heard when delivery of pre-orders within Australia will occur?

hi Robert, welcome to the forum.

i pre-ordered back in Feb and was given a built date for mid June. (delivery around mid/end July).

you need to realise they are importing 1200 in 2012, of which 50% are GT and 50% GTS with manual/auto being half/half. therefore there will be around 300 GT manual, then split into 7 colours and if they are split equally there will only be around 42 grey manual GT arriving in 2012. now share that with 400 dealers across Australia and you get the picture? they are not lying that most dealers will have 1 or 2 cars per month.

personally i think it's a good thing as i can have a little more time to sell my current car before the new car arrives. also people at the dealer would have played around with an 86 by then so they are less likely to play with mine.

ahh yup, i get the picture! that does sound very limited indeed!

as to the BR-Z do you happen to know when that might be released / delivered as well?

Subaru has been tight lipped on the BRZ and very little local info has been leaked so far. No idea how many cars are coming but definitely less than Toyota.

I was told to expect the car late June, 20th onwards...

I was told June /July. However that was clearly a guess on the dealers part.

I was told early July.

If it helps when I ordered mine the dealer showed me when the car was being made, shipped and scheduled to arrive.

Production Date: May 31st
Arrival Date in Australia: June 29th
Expected Pick Up: Mid/Late July

I was told to expect the car Mid/Late July depending how long it takes the car to leave the docks and go through the whole 'dealer delivery' process.

Well fingers crossed we will have solid information next week. July is fine with me, I had planned to change my car at that time anyway, so its excellent timing.

if you haven't already, ask your sales to give you a user code and pw for "track your Toyota" on the website.

apparently it will start updating after the car is officially launched, hopefully next week.
