Fellow Foodie Thread >:3 !!
Hey there everyone !
I am starting a new thread about something very important to me ... GOOD FOOD !!! Normally I would just post in the activity/meet thread but I do not think it is appropriate to blow up that thread with pictures of mouth-watering edible delight  So the rules to this thread are simple ! 1) Name of place , time , address , meetup point for any open-invitation food outings ! Ex : "What up peeps ?! Gonna go ham at Tatami for the lunch buffet tomorrow 9/1 @1pm !! 10123 N Wolfe Rd #2001, Cupertino, CA 95014 If you are down to eat , meet up in front of the restaurant inside Vallco ! I'll try to park in the second floor parking lot , look for Sophie !" 2) When writing review/experience at a place , be sure to include name , address , what was good/bad , service (because it is possible to not enjoy a meal as well because service was crap even if the food is great) , overall experience and recommendation when visiting ! 3) And most importantly ..... :needpics: We live in an area bless with amazing food and a giant diversity of cuisine , let us take full advantage of it !!! HAPPY EATING EVERYONE ! |
This has huge potential!!

Lots of times I go out to eat and I run into other members in the same plaza , why not try to organize it and eat together :bonk: ? |
Most likely off topic but... Tatami sort of sucks. :(
Well, sucks is maybe too strong of a word. But it's really hit or miss, with hit being "average" and miss being "I think I have food poisoning." Source: used to eat there way too often Anyways this is a good idea, I need to find new and exciting places to eat anyways. :D |

And this is not considered off topic because you are chiming in on your experiences there ! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk |

Hey Guys,
I have a suggestion for those in the San Jose area. How about Le Bon de Cuisine on Sunday 8/2 for lunch at noon? Le Bon for short, is a French/Vietnamese fusion restaurant and is amazing. It would be great to get to know you guys a bit more since I could not stay that long for my last southbay meetup. Let me know what you guys think. We can all park directly in front of the restaurant, as there is plenty of space. Here is the yelp for the restaurant if you guys want to check it out. http://www.yelp.com/biz/le-bon-de-cuisine-san-jose |
Screw you guys and your bay area food options
|
I have suggestions for those in SF. Probably my favorite fried chicken joint is in SF, San Tung. It's on Irving street. Almost always a line, but it goes by quick.
Every table you see there will have a plate of their dry fried chicken wings, and the green beans. |

Land Ocean, a steak and seafood place, has great ribeye (I literally ate one or two of those a week for 7 months straight). Saffron Grill has amazing Persian food. Pho ABC is comparable with some of the great Vietnamese places in San Jose. There's a few solid sushi options (I was surprised, pretty much every sushi place I went to besides a few were average to above average; I was expecting terrible to mediocre Japanese food). Oz Korean BBQ is legit, especially for an all you can eat place. It's so much better than the all you can eat place in the Bay Area (Palace). Man I'm getting hungry typing all this... |

I agree. I came from Turlock area before I moved to SJ and nothing compares to our taco trucks and restaurants! |

If you have more than 4 people, or worse, more than 6... lol. But yeah it's one of my favorites |
Hey everyone I have a new place you should try !
Ever since I got my car back I been driving nonstop around all the roads in our backyard ! This time I took my friends along with me and we decided pause in Boulder Creek right after take Big Basin back onto Hwy 9 . I looked around the cozy town located right on Hwy 9 and saw they had a pizza place nearby so I walked over ! From the outside it didn't look really that great but the moment I walked inside I thought the place looked super cool ; kinda like a hidden secret place but not really hahaha ! Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub 13200 Central Ave Ste B Boulder Creek, CA 95006 I had the Kung Pao Pizza which was awesome if you kinda like a sweeter pizza than with marinara sauce ! https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...550c2817dbd5bc The workers there were really cool/helpful/awesome ! Felt really down to earth and let me know their personal favorites ! Also try their bacon breadsticks ! Forgot to take a picture of that though :bonk: |
Did I hear you say "bacon bread sticks"?

Hey peeps just a quick heads up for people not-in-the-know in that area !
I recent picked up some food at one of my favorite spots in SF which I personally think is the best place to buy "sushi to-go" Yum Yum Fish 2181 Irving St San Francisco, CA 94122 b/t 22nd Ave & 23rd Ave in Outer Sunset I have been buying sushi here since I first moved to SF in 2011 and I want to let everyone know that I am always satisfied and happy when I order ! I classify sushi/seafood in three categories : -Super-duper dirt cheap (Low quality sushi that you can fill up on $2-$4 per roll) -Best bang for your buck (Moderate-high quality sushi that your wallet can handle) -High-priced overly expensive (Grade A sushi made from licensed chefs where a few hand rolls will cost you this week's paycheck) Everything is very subjective depending on individuals taste but overall many people can tell what what is bad , what is good , and what is better :p Yum yum fish is the best bang for your buck ! Chirashi bowl $15.45 This is my usual I get when I am here ! You will actually be surprised that it is a pretty big bowl of chirashi ! I drop in and order a chirashi bowl to go , walk over to Wonderful (my favorite boba place) to get a drink and come back to see my order is ready ! Also try to get there earlier in the day ! Obviously because the seafood is fresher but they close early as well when they no longer have rice to serve ! http://s3-media1.fl.yelpcdn.com/bpho...C80dgH0g/l.jpg Rose combo $25-$26 Sf roll(real crab) and 9 pieces nigiri : tuna belly , salmon roe , tuna , yellowtail , sea urchin , salmon , hamachi toro , spicy scallop , sweet shrimp ! https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...55570946_n.jpg In the past years management has changed and some people say it is not the same but I personally think that the quality is still there ! This sounds very silly but every time I go and order Yum Yum Fish I pass out after my meal (I am deathly allergic to fresh seafood ! I start getting rashy and my throat area starts to swell up to the point where it is difficult to breathe) ! If you must know a little about me , I love food so much I will risk pain to enjoy what heaven taste like ! Anytime I go to a place and the seafood is very fresh I break out in an allergic reaction but it is all worth the good food ! So if we ever go out and eat together please don't be alarmed if I do not look well , I am only suffering physically but at the same time I am very happy :bonk: |
Some of my favs

Smoking Pig BBQ in San Jose
one of my favorite bbq places. Can't go wrong with the 2 or 3-meat combos. Highly recommend the mixed brisket (both lean and fatty), ribs, hot links (pretty spicy), pulled pork nachos, burnt ends, wolf turds... that's just what I've tried so far. there's also one in Fremont |
I think I'm gonna treat myself to the Moveable Feast food trucks at Canoas Garden tonight.

That's sad to hear, as I used to live down the street from the one in Fremont and loved going there. I was worried when NUMMI closed down that they would be forced out of business, and was relieved when I heard Tesla was going to reopen it. Because it would help that place survive. But it sounds like from what @darkonion has said, the prices have gone up and they are milking those Tesla guys for all they're worth haha. Oh well I will still give it a shot next time I am in the area, I always got the tacos and a nice cold cup of horchata. Carne asada fries, I keep hearing people talk about them but haven't tried it yet... have to check that out sometime. |

Also there's a newer, lesser known La Vics on 4th street for those in SJ. Very new. Lengua super burrito = crunchy, chewy awesomeness. Two things I can talk about all day... food and cars! :D |
I gave the Las Vegas place 3 stars... :(

Since its seems most of you folks are in the South bay and I've been in a bit of a ramen kick lately, here's some of my favorite ramen places in my neck of the woods:
Yojimbo sushi (Alameda): my go-to local spot. Good Korean style spicy miso pork ramen Ramen shop (Oakland): "fancy" ramen, yummy but kind of on the expensive side. Gets really busy, come early to avoid the long wait. Sobo ramen (Oakland): crazy number of different broths (tonkatsu, shoyu, etc.) but I love the tonkatsu with a little mayu (black garlic oil). |
