Wow, Darren, this incredibly generous of you! If I'm ever in the area, I'll be sure to stop by! I won't forget the beer either. Hope you like Shock Top! ;)

Hey Darren. I actually got those struts installed at my dads garage. So it looks like we can just have beer instead ;)

DarrenDriven 10-31-2012 06:54 PM

OK, let's push it back a little then... can we do 4:30p instead?

Chen 10-31-2012 08:42 PM

That works. Ill bring the beer.

DarrenDriven 10-31-2012 09:08 PM

Anyone else that wants to meet at my place at 4:30p we will leave my shop about 5:20 to hit Sykart, then off to Tualatin for the meet/dinner.

Haha, No worries. Well have to kill the case the next time we decide to do something. Also, I suppose I'll have to come down more. For a bunch of forum junkies. You guys are pretty cool.

Chen 11-12-2012 02:42 PM

@DarrenDriven how confident do you feel on installing a spoiler, window visor, rebadge and antenna? I would do it. But I suck at lining things up and it would suck for everything to be uneven.

DarrenDriven 11-12-2012 06:08 PM

Rebadging I have done so that is no problem. I would think that the antenna wouldn't be too hard, either. The window visor and spoiler are a little trickier, but we could do it. We should have a third person so two can hold the parts while the 3rd eyeballs it from a distance.

Do you already have the spoiler and visor?

m.box.design 11-12-2012 06:32 PM

I got a buddy to help me with my spoiler installation. Kind of just push and prayed for the most part. Got it lined up pretty well. But I agree with Darren, a third person would be even better. It's harder to line things up after the 3m tape is applied since you can't freely nudge it around. I followed up with taking a hairdryer to the gaps in the tape to seal things up since this cold weather was making the tape uncooperative.

I have gotten the badges and the spoiler and visor are on their way. I'm waiting for the group by for the antenna to come in.

Edit- should we make a day event/BBQ out of it?

DarrenDriven 11-12-2012 08:06 PM

Yeah, that would be fun. Who's bringing the BBQ? :)

Chen 11-12-2012 08:22 PM

Lol, what?! I thought you had one!

DarrenDriven 11-12-2012 08:41 PM

Nope, I sold mine a couple years ago. We might have to order pizza, haha.

Chen 11-12-2012 08:58 PM

Pizza it is. We Just gotta wait for everything to come in, than we can pick a date to do it. I'll keep the thread updated.

DarrenDriven 11-12-2012 09:30 PM

Deal. If anyone else wants to come over... this is a good opportunity to detail your interior inside my shop. I've got the shop vac and the air blow gun to make things easy.

Chen 11-13-2012 06:49 PM

Let's plan to meet sometime in December. Again if I don't attempt to do it myself before hand. Haha.

Chen 11-13-2012 09:44 PM

Update: So everything should all arrive by Friday. So.... if you guys are available before the 22nd as well we could make an event happen before you guys leave. :)

m.box.design 11-13-2012 10:08 PM

I think Darren is already gone... can we still meet at his shop?? :P
I need to send my payment for the antenna. They are sending yours out by Friday??

More problems with the ecu. When Toyota said they don't know how to fix it yet it was my sign to get out of it. I traded it for a turbo Hyundai Geninuses. Maybe in a couple years they can work out the kinks and ill get another one but until then I can't base my life around a genie pig car and drive rentals more then my car and still pay for it. You guys are good people to hang around and wouldn't mind being a "groupie" lol

Sad to see an 86 leave the family. But your more than always welcome in my book. I was in looking into a genesis as well when I was on the market for a new car. Lmk how you like the difference.

DarrenDriven 11-14-2012 12:53 PM

Yeah, man, you are still welcome to come hang out. We'll just make fun of your car while you beat us in races. :)

Chen 11-14-2012 01:11 PM

I wish the 86 has some of the tech the genesis does.

Goodguy889 11-14-2012 02:44 PM

The driving difference is remarkably different. The handling on the fr-s is way better and feels more in control unlike the Hyundai where it feels like it under steers a lot. But the interior and all the extra stuff the Hyundai comes with makes t worth it. Plus it's the track edition so it has the brembo brakes and racing suspension, wide rear rims, and exhaust. It's like driving a camery but faster lol unlike driving a lotus lol

haha, when we decide to do a meet up for an install/clean up. I would love to see your genesis. I haven't driven one since I was on the market for a car and I want to see how the manual feels.

Edit- On the upside. My Window Visors came in today.

Damn Matt, that sucks. Did Toyota buy the car back or did you trade it in?
