Wednesday is good for me, can try my best to help out with scratches and finish up (restart haha) the car.

digital_assassin...the things I would do to that pressure washer.. you have no idea :bellyroll:. How much that set ya back? Super bummed with the "soap gun" product I picked up and after looking into it a foam lance setup is really the only way.

blu_ 07-30-2012 03:36 PM

Thats quite the setup :) Having my clear bra put on Wednesday. Just a warning for everyone to avoid 26 going into the city before the tunnels. They are tearing it up and it is covered in 1-2" long pieces of concrete. It chipped up my front bumper fairly bad in one pass through.

digital_assassin 07-30-2012 05:07 PM

Are you guys talking night time or an all day deal. I won't be available on Wednesday until about 6 PM.

@Zach

The pressure washer was only about $165 at home depot. I picked up the Griot's Foam Sprayer but at Home Depot they had the Foam Blaster which sounded cooler so I got it, and it was only $17. I am going to set up the rig based on a thread over at auto geek by Express Detail. Here's a youtube of the $17 dollar blaster hooked to a pressure washer. Do you have any suggestions on the pressure washer setup?

Where are you getting your clear bra done? And how much are you paying for it? I'm looking to get mine done up before I start driving on freeways comfortably.

blu_ 07-30-2012 08:52 PM

Just a partial one that covers the whole the front bumper and headlights for $495 at 503 motoring. I just hate when front bumpers get a sand blasted look to them.

Nothing on the hood or mirrors. I was going to put it off, but after getting a half dozen rock chips in 2 minutes I decided it was worth doing now.

Neziah 07-30-2012 09:16 PM

I paid $695 at Tommys for a full front, partial hood and fenders( 18" or so ), mirrors, door edges, door handle cups and rear bumper under the trunk and front of the rear wheelwell. Mine is a DD, so wanted more protection. At Guardline, they do a full hood and fender package that is $900-ish.

That is a nice selection there of goodies. I have been thinking about cruising up to check them out myself.

blu_ 07-30-2012 09:20 PM

Thats a good price, how did you like the install job quality wise?

Zach 07-30-2012 09:35 PM

For the guys looking for clear bra, email Nathan at info@blacklabelpdx.com. I have decided to use my limited funds elsewhere on the car but if I was going to get clear bra again Nathan is the ONLY person I would trust to touch my car. He has worked for a few shops in the area but owns his own machine and does not "cut on car", 3m certified and has been doing it for at least 7 years that I know of.

Wed after 6 is what works for me, day job.

digital_assassin 07-31-2012 02:59 AM

I may be without my car again this week. Just picked it up from the reinstallation of the kit and it is terrible. So disappointing. Oh well, either way I'll be there.

DarrenDriven 07-31-2012 04:03 AM

I'm gonna pick up a pressure washer so I can soap my car like yours. I'll see how yours works out before I pull the trigger.

I'm gonna hit the shop around 4-5pm, so anytime after that is cool. I want to get my car washed and claybarred before @Zach heads over.

Anyone else that wants to show up, feel free.

1535 SE 80th Ave

digital_assassin 07-31-2012 09:13 AM

I'll unbox and mod the pressure washer tonight so we can all check it out tomorrow.

DarrenDriven 07-31-2012 01:00 PM

Sweet.

Thanks, I'll keep him in mind next time I need some work!

I think they did a pretty good job. I would give a A-. He said they did not have a pattern so he had to hand cut it. I ended up with a small bubble on one mirror that he is going to fix, but overall pretty good. I still wish I could of had Guardline do it, but they were booked out too far and I needed to get it done before we went on our road trip.

I am glad I did, since last night I was cleaning off a few bugs from my nose and realized one was actually a gouge in the film from a rock or something! It deff saved a big chip.

blu_ 08-01-2012 12:03 PM

I need tint recommendations. 503 cancelled my tinting appointment. Might just go to Tommy's again. For some reason I am being super picky about what manufacturer each place uses.

slizoth 08-01-2012 01:28 PM

This is great Darren, thanks for the opportunity, I hope I don't need to use it anytime soon but maybe I'll swing by and say Hi next time Im in Portland.

Zach 08-01-2012 05:07 PM

I washed up last night, need a polish already (bah subaru paint!) but will wait for a weekend. I can swing over after work and give you a hand if your still planing on heading over.

It almost looks like rain.

DarrenDriven 08-01-2012 05:19 PM

I thought the weather looked iffy this morning, but now the sun is out and it's getting warm again.

Yeah, head over. I am going to wash and clay bar my car around 4pm so it should be all ready by the time you can make it over.

See ya guys in a bit.

digital_assassin 08-01-2012 05:37 PM

@DarrenDriven - I think I found the all the right parts for the gun except for the coupler (male - male). I can't find anything that is bored out enough so I'm going to just have my shop take care of that this afternoon and the setup should be complete. Did you pick up a pressure washer?

Zach 08-01-2012 05:45 PM

@DarrenDriven sweet Ill pick up my stuff at lunch and head over after work.

Zach 08-02-2012 02:49 AM

Good to see everyone tonight, I can't believe I forgot my buffer! O well it was a decent drive to go grab it and I think I found a faster way home.

Darren your cars stance makes me weak in the knees. Just a little rake with taller rubber in the rear is perfect imho. Maybe 1/2 inch down in the back but I now know coilovers are my next mod.

Nick, let me know about Sunday and Kevin good luck with the car tomorrow, your dropping it off to get the kit fit again ya?

Anyway, good times gents, we should have a full detail shop by the end of all this.

DarrenDriven 08-02-2012 03:56 AM

Yeah, man, that was chill. I like our tag-team detailing co-op. Can't wait to throw wax on her tomorrow. Enjoy...

digital_assassin 08-02-2012 04:01 AM

I think this needs to be a Wednesday night ritual.
@DarrenDriven - Thanks for providing such a great space! It's been really cool these past couple of weeks getting to know some other people with the same interests.
@Zach - I think my pad is still on your buffer. If I only would have checked my text before heading over I could have saved you the trip to pick up your machine since I brought mine along.

DarrenDriven 08-02-2012 04:12 AM

Yeah, your pad is on his buffer (you guys are so umm... will this forum let me say gay?)

My vacation schedule gets really screwy soon... so Wed night ritual might not work, but we'll have to play it by ear and try to do it once a week.

Bwahahahahaaaaaa... (cough)

m.box.design 08-02-2012 05:40 PM

Every car I've driven prior to this were beaters. Perhaps I'll stop by one of these times to learn how to properly wash/detail a car.

DarrenDriven 08-03-2012 12:50 AM

Yeah man, would be glad to meet ya.

DarrenDriven 08-16-2012 04:53 AM

Hehe... played around with a new app today... check this out!

That is WAY too cool! :confused0068:

Kmurph 08-16-2012 02:15 PM

Dude that is awesome, What app is that???

DarrenDriven 08-16-2012 02:23 PM

360 Panorama by Occipital for the iPhone. :)

Wigmasterflex 08-16-2012 03:03 PM

That is amazing !!

DarrenDriven 08-16-2012 03:06 PM

It's even crazier when you view it from the iPhone app. When you turn around and look up and down it feels like you are really standing there!

DarrenDriven 08-20-2012 04:00 AM

Had fun today with "the kids", installing Eibach Sportline 1.4" springs onto the black FR-S owned by @Zach. Thanks for the Carl's Jr, dude! The car looks SO much better!

Looks good Zach! Time for some wheels.

Neziah 08-21-2012 11:48 AM

I agree, looking good!

Kmurph 08-21-2012 10:22 PM

Looks good man!

Nubbs 08-22-2012 02:33 AM

Buell and an FR-S in the garage... You are a good man. Better than I as I think my 09 xb12s/ss fighter is gonna get sold along with the dirt bike. Will get rid of one payment and free up some cash for those coilovers you have sitting down there..

DarrenDriven 08-22-2012 03:33 AM

I loved the Buell... but every time I ride it I seem to fall out of love a little more. I got a great price when Buell held it's fire sale, but although it is a great race bike, not so great of a street bike. I'll hold onto it for at least another year, but I can feel the itch for something new.

Yeah, drive down here and we can install these KWs and have a few beers, man!
