Did you order a harness too? Or are you wiring up your own?

Yeah, they had to have been making that same clunk noise when he removed them. You could always try the manufacturer... there might be a warranty on them and obviously they are less than a year old.

How much do you cost to install new exhaust and intake, I really want to get one but I don't know how to install.

Exhaust is the easiest. You could do it with jack stands.

That doesn't really help him silly. Darren usually charges a case of beer to do work at his garage. Plus you'll learn how to do it yourself for the most part too. :) Exhaust, especially if you're just doing the axle back which is just the rear most part with the mufflers is just a matter of removing 2 bolts and taking the exhaust out of the rubber hangers. That's it. :) Once you see it, you will say it's easy as well.

Respect for doing your homework first. Darren's a good guy. Plus it's cool to hang out with another owner.

Does Portland has a club for BRZ/FRS owner? You guys should make up one. I would love to join in. Make some weekly race or meeting for that member. You know, it is just my thought of it. I have been seeing more FRS/BRZ around Portland area in the last couple month. I love to hang out with other owner to share some thoughts on the car.

I don't believe we have weekly meets. But when we do plan meets its usually a pretty big one. There have been a couple of people (myself included) who just invited other owners to go eat and have a photoshoot afterwards. Your also around the locals. I have to travel at least 2 hours to meet up. I know josh is planning a camping trip in tillamook and Darren is planning something in June. I know the Washington guys have weekly meets as well. I guess us Oregon guys aren't as dedicated lol.

Just keep active on the forums and you'll know when the next meet ups are. I know there's a cars and coffee meet up at 8 on the morning on Saturdays at cascade station. A couple of us has made a couple of appearances to that. And there are regular meets for Toyota owners on Sundays at 9 but their location always changes. You can always feel free to make an event as well.

Shooting you a PM right now!

BRZPDX 02-13-2013 01:42 PM

Anyone have vinyl wrap experience? My 60% headlight tint/fog light tint should arrive tomorrow.. It comes with some tools, and I fucked up the foglight tint I tried to do last week. Headlights seem harder. If no one can, I will go to a tint shop and have them install it.

Well I was thinking more and more about car club names for PDX area club if one was to be made.
Here are few suggestions:

Stump gear (not very original but cool never or less)
Cascadia 86'ers
Ok I ran out of ideas but if the idea of making an informal or formal car club is entertaining for the Pdx metro area incluiding Vancouver, WA then reply with some more name suggestions and I can tinker around with some photoshop to come up with some logo designs. :happy0180:

Lverasky 02-14-2013 02:19 AM

Sounds good. let's put some ideas together.

86'ers Kicker
Night Team

We should have weekly/biweekly meets, share thoughts and stories. Had couple of drinks on the hand then go on the street with the car.....um.

Well, let's start a new topic for discussion of a car club... I gotta say that I'm probably not interested in being part of a "club" and like the idea of a bunch of like-minded individuals meeting more informally... but if some of you guys get it going then I would probably join in.

My bezels arrived yesterday. Yours should be soon to follow?? :) I just have to wait for my harness now... funny how the overseas item gets here faster than the item from the domestic vendor.

DarrenDriven 02-18-2013 12:59 AM

My HID set is on the way, the fog lights are here and my three bezel sets should be here late this week, hopefully. Hoping to get these installed next weekend!

Pdxc43 02-18-2013 01:22 AM

Darren, are you and your shop available March 2nd? I've got a couple of goodies from Perrin that I could use your help with installing.

DarrenDriven 02-18-2013 01:32 AM

I have no plans on my calendar for that day, so I'll probably be at the house/shop working on some project. Just text me that morning and touch base.

DarrenDriven 02-20-2013 01:47 AM

Almost forgot... installed an exhaust on @tech4pdx's Hot Lava the other day...

Crawford's axleback. Sounds very nice. I can actually hear my car now. (: I'm working on getting the rest of it done from overpipe back.

Get some vids my friend!

tech4pdx 02-20-2013 03:48 PM

I will for sure. I'm picking up a go pro and the tow hook mount for just that.

Oh sorry. Should have been more clear:

Click link and I think you have to use their tow hook. :)

Did your stuff arrive yet? That Nigel-jdmparts vendor says they wont even receive the harnesses til late next week, so I won't even get my harness til probably two weeks from now. I should have just ordered off amazon. lol.

How are you planning to rig yours up? Using a stalk?

DarrenDriven 02-21-2013 02:39 PM

Haven't received them yet... just got an email that they shipped from Japan a couple days ago, so I expect another week or so before they arrive.

I haven't planned the switch yet... might do the stalk, waiting to see the DIY first.

Zaneman 02-22-2013 10:12 PM

Picked up some steering rack bushings. I don't have a clue when I'll be free but I would love to come shoot the shit, drink some beers and install these babies.

DarrenDriven 02-22-2013 11:59 PM

Hey Zane! I think we already installed a set of those on @stockysnail's car and they were easy. Maybe he can chime in and remind me... I remember pulling the rack down, but can't remember if we actually replaced those or if we needed a press.

Zaneman 02-23-2013 02:24 AM

I read you only need a c-clamp and a socket or pipe to press them out. Hopefully that is the case.

No Darren we didn't install them that day. I installed them at my place however. I used a 2 jaw clamp from Harbor Frieght. It would be easier with your life however, but it still takes a little time as the clamp had a tendency of slipping off, but it worked really well. I think it was the 8" 2 jaw clamp that I used. Nothing really needs to be done aside from taking the bolts out and using the clamp to push out the old bushings.

Here's a good DIY tutorial that I used to get a good idea.
