FRS lack of horsepower

I just purchased a 2015 scion FRS. Not whole lot has changed except for the upgraded suspension, better muffler and the shark fin as the antenna... also a few gadgets inside the car. I bought after market rims 18x8 front and 18x9 rear. We all know the FRS is a great car, looks amazing and it handles like glue on a track but that motor without a turbo WTF happened there!!! :bonk:

Im considering putting more power in this engine but would like to hear from you guys first.
What have you done to increase this cars performance...
Turbo, super charger, cold air intake, racing chip, exhaust etc etc
What did you get and how has it changed your cars Hp/performance??

Counter question before people pile on:

Why did you buy a car you thought was underpowered? This should not have been a surprise to you. There are many alternatives that deliver more 'performance' for your money.

Browse the forum for a while, there are countless threads on how to gain horsepower or how to improve handling. Your notion of 'performance' is very vague.

If all you want to know is how to improve 'performance', go to any website that has parts for the car. All of them will make your car 'perform' more. IMO, once you figure out what kind of performance you want, it'll be a whole lot easier to narrow it down.

It wasn't a surprise to me and I love this car. I always knew the engine only had 200hp... I just think it can use a lil more power.

Id say racing chip gave me the most gains

Yes that is a vague question. I meant performance as in speed indeed. I also wonder if too much power will result in poor handling of the car which is something I would not want. I think 275Hp would be ideal for this engine but I could be wrong....

I started out wanting. After spending months cruising this forum I've come to the conclusion that I'll be making no changes in the short term. Long term maybe an EL header and a tune. Try reading up before jumping in wallet first.

I'd recommend attending a track event before deciding on FI. I want(ed) FI too but after some track driving I realize there are better ways to spend my money and time right now. I.e. Learning, tires, brakes, track events :burnrubber:

Try it

^^^ This.

The one "performance" upgrade I would recommend is on OFT.

Bang for the buck, it's probably the best upgrade you can do. Also, any idiot can do it. You don't need to be a wrench jockey.

I too want to say track and autox it first but lets be honest we spend more time on public roads than anywhere else so I would recommend headers and a tune to remove the dip and smooth out the power a bit. Not goin to hit your 275 but it will feel damn good compared to your stock power with larger wider wheels

Do a 2J swap!

You bought the wrong car... should of bougut a 370z or a mustang for power.
