86er BBQ @ Red Door Meet SUN AUG 3RD

The plan will be to meet at the north OMSI parking lot at 6:15p, then we will roll to RDM, just a few blocks away, 15 minutes later at 6:30p. From OMSI we will head north on Water Ave, turn right on Yamhill St. then left on 2nd Ave. We'll roll through, then park as far north as we have to in order to get our cars together. Hang out for 30 minutes then stay or leave whenever you want, but I suggest walking the show first.

20+ 86ers showed and we took over Washington Street with our cars. What a day!
Head straight to page six to see photos of the event:

I'll have my car back from the Drift Office by then. I will try to make it.

Lverasky 07-28-2014 02:51 PM

I come too, since I never been to one before.

503 BRZ 07-28-2014 02:57 PM

Do I remember someone saying to make sure you have your front license plate as cops like to hassle RDM'ers?

That was me and I still recommend it. Cops will site for everything

DarrenDriven 07-28-2014 03:16 PM

Crap, I lost mine downtown. I think I'll just take a photo of my rear, print it, laminate it and stick it to the front of my car, haha. With a license plate cover on it I don't think anyone will be able to tell the difference.

Anyone have, or know someone with, a drone that we can Go Pro? Would be REALLY neat to have some stills and video from the air.

I know you wouldn't have time to do it before the meet, but I know that some people get a decal of their front plate for the flexibility with placement and not causing damage to their vehicle (something like this - http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/attac...4&d=1316972423).

IDK what the stipulation is for that in Oregon - I had a classmate tell me you could get them from the DMV, but IDK about that. I didn't look into it too much since I just ended up going with the Grimmspeed relocation kit.

DarrenDriven 07-28-2014 03:37 PM

I've got a color laser printer here... and Kinkos is a minute away to laminate it. Won't be legal, but I am confident that if a cop noticed I could talk my way out of it.

wrohdejr 07-28-2014 03:52 PM

LOL my new front bumper doesn't have a license plate tow hook hole yet. I might have to ziptie my license plate on the way out.

Just tell them someone took your front plate and you are going to the dmv monday to file for a new one!!

DarrenDriven 07-28-2014 04:08 PM

If you plan on coming please like the first post in this topic so we can get some numbers on how many ppl might show. Thanks.

OoLong 07-28-2014 04:20 PM

RDM is too high school boys for me... With their ratchet looking CRX, Civic hatches, etc...

But yall should call Ambulances services in advance because many necks will be broken...

Have fun!

OurFirst86 07-28-2014 04:26 PM

It going to be awesome if we can get all of NW to roll together...i try to have guys from here to roll to

Yeah, it definitely is... but I think it's still fun to see the variety of modded cars there. No matter the age, it's the passion for your ride that matters.

Decay107 07-28-2014 06:29 PM

I'm tentatively in, assuming I can get some replacement clips to hold my front bumper on in time.

FYI, hitting a cone at about 50 Mph will shear those fuckers right off :bonk:

DarrenDriven 07-28-2014 07:13 PM

You don't need a bumper! Show off that bumper support!

Decay107 07-28-2014 07:24 PM

But without a bumper to drill into, how will I mount my awesome state mandated front vehicle registration placard?

thehapaone 07-28-2014 07:35 PM

I'm down for this lets show up those ricer hondas

LeviathanDC5 07-28-2014 10:21 PM

stockysnail 07-30-2014 01:36 AM

m.box.design 07-30-2014 01:58 AM

Chen 07-30-2014 11:35 PM

A lot more people showing up than I thought.

digital_assassin 07-31-2014 02:09 AM

I haven't made it to anything in a while. It'll be good to see what mods everyone has done this summer. Count me in!

m.box.design 07-31-2014 03:17 AM

Since this is going to be a few days before August 6th (8/6), I'm going to do a little video with interviews of owners. What does everyone think?

Sample questions:

(1) What does this car mean to you?

(2) Why did you pick this car?

(3) Describe your car in two words.

Feel free to contribute questions!

DarrenDriven 07-31-2014 12:57 PM

Leave it to Michael to turn this into homework!

It's my toy. I pull it out of the garage when I want to have some pure driving fun -- or just turn some heads. It's the irresponsible side of my brain, haha.

(2) Why did you pick this car?
I'm a longtime Toyota enthusiast who has been waiting for a lightweight Japanese RWD gokart to be produced forever! (...that is not a Miata)

(3) Describe your car in two words.
Pure fun

I'm thinking of turning this into a BBQ, guys. Throw the trailer on my van and strap a BBQ in there, with all my folding chairs and a cooler.

I don't actually OWN a BBQ right now... but I need one anyway. I am going to look on CL for a good used one, but if anyone on the east side has a decent large-ish BBQ I can use instead of buying one then let me know.

Burgers with all the fixins, potato salad and pop. (I'll bring some beers we can our into cups if anyone wants to risk it -- I will)

m.box.design 07-31-2014 02:12 PM

Anyone have a charismatic and impressionable female friend who'd like to be the 'host' of the video? Introduction and asking questions?
@LeviathanDC5 @Boom @Chen

@LeviathanDC5 @Boom @Chen

I'll ask around.

DarrenDriven 07-31-2014 03:06 PM

I'm going to bring the BBQ, propane and cooler with ice... as well as some beer and plastic cups. (Two beer limit for anyone.)

I need some volunteers to agree to bring:
- Frozen hamburger patties (2 dozen)
- Hamburger buns (2 dozen -- not the crap 99 cent ones!)
- Potato Salad (two tubs)
- Condiments (ketchup, squeezable mayo, mustard)
- Extras (sliced cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes)
- Pop (three different 2 liters should suffice, make sure they are COLD!)
- Paper plates, plastic forks, roll of paper towels

OK guys, shout out if you want to sign up for one of these. I'll post the signups on post #1.

m.box.design 07-31-2014 03:34 PM

I can bring paper plates, plastic ware, and paper towels. Also a garbage bag.

Lverasky 07-31-2014 03:40 PM

I can bring - Condiments (ketchup, squeezable mayo, mustard) . one bottle of each enough?

I didn't even think about garbage. Good call.

Yup, one of each should be just fine.

DarrenDriven 07-31-2014 03:47 PM

Still need 86ers for these...

Boom 07-31-2014 03:53 PM

Imma bring the burger patties and buns.

I'll ask my girl if she can play hostess - she likes role play.

My buddy also wants to come kick it, only thing is... he drives a G35 :iono:
Can he blend in the caravan, or should we segregate?

He can be the camera car. We can strap all the gopros to him. lol

DarrenDriven 07-31-2014 04:54 PM

We accept all cars in our group. No segregation here, right? Non-86ers must make a mandatory few-dollar donation if they wanna eat, though. :)

@Boom swooping in with the buns and beef! Way to go, man!

This is now in my shop... $45 on CL. :)
