US vs Canadian BRZ

Hey guys, the BRZ/FRS will be my first brand new car and before I buy a brand new car I try to inform myself the most I can.

The first of my concern is about the difference around the globe. I hope there is not much, atleast I would like the US and Canadian model to be the same. The reason behind this about aftermarket parts, living in Canada the best sources of parts have always been the USA.

Other country is also important since you can find nice parts but at higher shipping prices.

The second of my concerns are about all the differents years... Do they have major differences? I hope not, a car that had the same parts for several years in a row means its easier to get replacement parts and also they will live long long time because more units are sold over years.

Thanks for helping sorting out a part of my questions.

I don't believe anything is different other than the 2013 model where ours had a Pioneer headunit. Later models switched to the same one the US ones are using.

'Murricans also get to have that awful TPMS as well, but, that's fair since it was all their idea in the first place. Useless and annoying, especially if you have more than one set of wheels.

Canadian cars don't have it, yay.

As far as parts go, when you go to purchase a part you'll get the most up-to-date part.

Meaning if there are any supersedes you'll more than likely get the newest part. I might have an "older model" part on the shelf and I give it to my tech anyways.

Basically what I'm saying is that if they replaced a part like brake pads on the 2015 model compared to 2013 because they use a better material now, you'll get the newest part (for your 2013).

Unless you're talking something like the whole brakes being bigger.

I wish the Canadian model is the same as the European LHD model, instead we get the shitty American model.

one thing that stuck out for me from Canadian BRZ was the ugly mic hanging down.. instead of USDM's flushed look

That was only for the 2013 model. 14 and 15s are like the USDM ones.
