A while back I was on the toll road and it was really empty, and I saw a white FRS not far ahead, so I sped up a bit. As I got closer I realized the car had an Anaheim Ducks sticker on it (I'm a die hard Ducks fan) so I was like no way, we have the same exact car and both Ducks fans, how cool. I get up next to the car and it's a girl my age, maybe a little younger. I am right next to her, literally only us on this huge straight road, and I had my Ducks hat on so I'm held it up like "hey I'm a Ducks fan too" and she won't look over. I'm like okay maybe she doesn't notice me, so I honk lightly. Nope, her eyes are dead ahead and she won't even glance over. I was in awe...how do you see someone in your same car, obviously trying to get your attention and not even glance over. So what I thought would be a cool fellow FRS owner encounter turned out to be one of the more irritating moments in all 10 years of me driving.

From back in July (and in the Come Race Me Bro thread):

Couple of days ago I am headed home on the highway in busy but well moving traffic when I look in my mirror and see this rapidly expanding blue dot coming up. I was already doing about 15 over the limit (so was the rest of the traffic) so I knew the guy had to be flying. Well the dude gets up beside me, slows down and paces me in the passing lane. I have cruise on so my speed doesn't waver one single MPH. He never even so much as glances in my direction and after about 30 seconds just down shifts shoots ahead until he has just enough room, cuts in front of me, brake checks me and continues driving slower that the rest of the lane is going.
I put up with this for about 5 minutes and finally said "screw this", went around him and pulled back into the lane ahead of him moving about 15 mph faster than he was. As soon as I hit cruise he was downshifting and passing me. Once again without even a head turn. The exact same scenario played out once more before he apparently got bored of my love of cruise control and not going to jail and he took off, never to be seen again. Through the whole thing he never even appeared to know I was there and did not look in my direction even once.
Damned BRZ drivers!!!!!!

(More seriously. If you are on here Bruuuh trade for a freakn' Mustang and stop giving us a bad rep. That shit was stupid and did not impress me for one second)

You should of have gotten his plates number and shame his ass. Those type of people shouldnt even deserve to own a car

I've only seen a couple of asshats locally.

One was in front of me at a light and wanted to impress me with his FRS by bouncing it off the limiter and doing burnouts. He then almost wrecked. I was so impressed. Or not.

Another one tried to be the drift king leaving a large mall outside my office. I was only watching because he was revving his stupid loud exhaust and my office overlooks the airport/mall/road. He launched, attempted to drift and promptly spun. I'm sure he felt like an idiot as traffic had to wait for him to turn back around.

I must be lucky. So far, every twin owner that I have met has been nice and, at least, as well behaved as I am.

MisterSheep 09-17-2015 02:13 PM

Most of the twin owners I encounter while driving don't even seem to acknowledge i'm there. Most of the twin owners I meet in person at meets are extremely nice though. I guess the true enthusiests go to the meets while theres bunch of twin owners who have the same car and don't even notice or care that they have an enthusiest car.

I've had mixed reactions.. I had a really really fun experience with a random 86 late at night my area where we just drove a little quickly around some wide streets. But more than that (and this may just be the area im in) most of them refuse to acknowledge my existence. I would say maybe 80% of the 86 owners out here don't so much as look your way. Then again i live in a relatively snobby neighborhood and im guessing having an 86 won't cure that :P

As for other drivers.. lol. Well, last weekend I had a guy in a 2015 Shelby (or at least was badged shelby, looked and sounded mean as hell) try and race me at a green light on a straight road.. like there's ever a day where I would even come close to that.

All that said, the 20% who are cool have generally been REALLY cool and i think that completely makes up for the rest.

CandorLush 09-17-2015 04:00 PM

My experience mirrors a lot of people with most twins not acknowledging me and I do think that it has to do with people just not being as into their cars as I am to mine.

I had a guy in a white BRZ give me a giant thumbs up on I95 and rt32 in MD the other day and that made up for all of it :D

Yea I've had my FRS 3 weeks now and get tailgated daily. However I've also had many people compliment the car, at least 6 times in parking lots, drive thrus, and traffic lights. That's more positive attention in 3 weeks than I got in 8 years in my EK civic! Seems like many people are fans of the car and are happy to see it up close.

Best encounter by far was two guys in a 90's Suzuki wagon who jokingly downshifted next to me, then at the next light they asked "is that the new Camry?" Looool'ed all the way home (I have Toyota badges)

Most twins I've met has been very low-key and polite except this one guy that flew-by me about a week ago. I was cruising north of DFW going south on 35 when this black raven bullet by me. Thought it was a black Porsche because it flew by loud and fast lol (He must be doing at least 80mph+).

I'm not sure if he's just trying to cut ahead of traffic to exit off, just a friendly-fly-by, showing off or just doing some speeding for fun. I wouldn't mind if he at least wave at me. Haha

Lol, so much truth in this thread

The fact of the matter is that in the next 3 years this car will be the next RSX or Gen Coupe that bro douches will pick up for sure

With that being said, there's this red FR-S in the GTA that weaves in and out on the 401. Aftermarket exhaust, barely legal tints, smoked tails

Surprisingly enough, a lot of the douchers prefer the e46 Bims, Civic SI's/DC5/ and G35's over our car which is a damn sigh of relief.

Today!

I pulled next to a FRS teen driver, I started conversation about how they made you feel like driving a go kart, but with a boxer engine and how it was a really well engineered vehicle. This kid did nothing but brag about his mustang at home and how it was fast as hell.... lmao He then tries to peel out of the parking lot and i guess he forgot to press buttons... I laughed and facepalmed him.
