Paint Chip from the Dealer
Right before I drove off the lot, I did a final inspection when I bought my brz. I found a paint chip down to the metal the size of a pin head on the trunk lid. The dealer said they could send the car to a third party body shop to have the trunk redone, but I was concerned about the paint matching and wanted to keep as much of the stock paint as possible, so I opted just for touch up paint.
With the touch up paint, it's definitely more noticeable than without it. The dealer says they'll still offer to get the trunk redone if I want, but should I do it? |
Find the most reputable bodyshop in your area. Then have the dealership pay for whom you prefer perform the repaint. What's the color of your BRZ?

For damage that minor, I personally wouldn't repaint the entire trunk.
You can get a very decent touch-up job done from a shop, if you're not confident in doing it yourself. Basically, fill in the chip with paint, wetsand to level it down, then buff out the sanding haze with a DA polisher. Also, pics of the chip would help. |
