General hitch info: BRZ / FR-S
 

Thought I'd share this with you all. I got the DrawTite hitch made for BRZ/FR-S. HiddenHitch and Curt also make hitches for our cars now. All look very similar.. that is to say quite awful. There will be a very visible bar hanging about 2" below the bottom of the bumper, spanning nearly the entire distance between the exhaust tips, but hey.. if you want a functional hitch with 200 pound tongue weight, this is the way to go.

I weighed the hitch.. it's 18.6 pounds. Not completely terrible, especially if you offset the weight gain with an aftermarket exhaust :D

The bad news for me: The particular hitch I got was flexed so much out of shape, that even after flexing it back out as far as I could, the holes were still off by an inch. This doesn't mean they're all like this, but it's worth knowing about it.. you may need another pair of hands to install it.. or just pay a pro.

Thanks for the good info! I've been looking into a hitch but have been leery about the numerous accounts of poor fitment with the muffler. I believe the curt weighs double and only has a 150lb tongue capacity and it requires grinding of the frame rail because they use larger fasteners than the other hitches. The draw-tite and hidden are the same hitch with diff part numbers. Based on your experience do you think it accomplished what you bought it for or are you searching for better options?

The curt works perfectly and is cheap. You grind the frame rail holes out a tiny bit to slide 'hidden' fasteners. It is the best way to go IMO. Ive used mine for many-a-miles now to hold a hitch carrier thing with my wheels/race tires to events.

It should work well, especially with my Works ABM.. as it has a smaller muffler .. so no chance of contact with hitch. However, the hitch is just too darn ugly!! If I wanted to tow, I'd have no choice, but I was only putting it on for bicycle rack use.

I am now looking into the threaded rods / tow hook holes approach.

Agree.. grinding those out is no big deal at all. There's no need to grind with DrawTite.. really same setup as Curt, but uses square bar instead of round.

Little bit of a bump, I had a drawtite one on my car which is very similar to the curt. Same deal, didn't fit well had to be stretched which was a pain. Also, doesn't fit with the invidia n1. Anyone run into this problem?
