303 Protectant Stain

So I was detailing my interior plastics with 303 aerospace protectant and I got some on the plastic in front of the gauges. I didn't notice it until the next day when the sun was on it and didn't try to remove it until a couple days after that. I've used both water and simple green to try and remove with a microfiber cloth and neither have any effect. I can feel it with my fingernail, but it won't scrape off at all. Is it etched? Am I missing something?

It doesn't look nearly as bad in real life, but the flash makes it easy to see in the picture.:mad0259:

I never spray vinyl cleaner inside my car. That stuff ends up everywhere on the dash and windshield. Just spray it directly on a towel and scrub with it.

Here's the fix:

Meguiar's Plastic - X:

Meguiar's Soft Foam applicator pad:

And a Meguiar's Supreme Shine towel:

Apply Plastic-X to foam applicator, swirl it around the area gently and work it in. When working it in it will take about 1-2 minutes, try and generate enough friction that it's being worked in but don't dry buff it. If you don't buff long enough, the polish will leave a haze, so do buff it thoughrouly and wipe it with a microfiber, and repeat until the plastic is completely clean. It will probably take 2-4 more passes to make it clean and haze free.

Another note, remember that Plastic-X is a compound polish. It uses micro abraisive beads that break down as you work them in, and that's how they clean up so well. So do keep this in mind.

Any finishing polish MIGHT help!

Id try Stay Fresh Refresh 3 polish.

AS stated always spray directly onto the cloth. Nothing is worse than trying to wash that shit off your windshield, not to mention if it damages the plastic. I learned this lesson the hard way on my old G20t.

Get some headlight polish and rub it out

Thanks, sounds like I'll try out some plastic polish. Also, stop spraying the stuff directly onto the surface...

Happened to me too, it polished out.

303 works on all plastics. Its water based not petroleum so it wont damage it. That said, its difficult to use on clear plastic like that as you have to spray onto a micro sponge and wipe dry with clean pad carefully. For clear plastic Plexus is usually the best cleaner as it is designed for that.
