No Air Filter

Ok this is probably a dumb question but has anyone tried running the car without a filter on it? And if so how did it effect the cars performance and tuning?

Probably a negligible difference. Just run a high flow filter and call it a day.

There was a thread on this a little while back. If I remember right, the dyno said there was a DECREASE in power, not to mention its not safe to do so.

If you want power, a K&N Filter will do you well.

You want a real HP increase?

Try adding hydrazine to your fuel.
Definitely gives you a big HP boost (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hydrazine+to+your+gasoline), but just about as good an idea as running with no AF.

Please don't run without a filter...there is no way you will gain anything of significance, except some crap being sucked into your motor...

Oh my god, I thought you were kidding at first. Apparently this is a thing that people did. Having dealt with hydrazine in the military, I will do my level best to stay as far away from it as possible. That shit will kill you slowly and make it hurt while you're dying.

You're in Texas which is the dust capital of the world. Not just no, but HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!

Silica sand is extremely abrasive and causes serious wear.

K&N is crap for filtering fine dust like we have here. "The world's best air filter" is their trademark, it's NOT a true statement. There's far better products on the market (AEM dryflo for example), though most are barely noticeable gains.

Someone tested having a air filter duct taped. Mpg did not suffer but performance did.

if you run with no air filter, expect sand and dust to ruin your engine.
