how's the drone on this thing?

Tainen 06-01-2012 03:14 PM

effectively none. it's fully muffled, at freeway speeds any exhaust noise is covered up by wind noise- but if you watch the latest vid I posted above, you can see at the end of the vid I do a drive by at 50mph- the car is completely silent. I was in 5th gear, so it'd be roughly equivalent to 6th gear freeway engine speeds.

That original Video is Axle Back only correct?

Tainen 07-03-2012 06:28 PM

correct.

They shipped mine today! Can't wait. How different is the sound between the full exhaust setup and just the axle back? From my experiance, the sound doesn't change too much with different piping up top and it's the muffler section that really changes the sound.

Like my STi with a 3" Helix downpipe and mid pipe sounded pretty much stock with the stock muffler.

A downpipe will alter the sound of an aftermarket muffler in the cabin more so than anywhere else. If it's a catless downpipe, it will add rasp inside and out for sure.

The exhaust growled a lot more with the downpipe added. I love the downpipe/axleback combo from nameless... my favorite sounding setup so far, I ran it on the car for a few weeks before they finished up the header designs and threw that on. Now it's a lot more smooth and loud (and still very aggressive) but I liked the more growly sound out of the downpipe/axleback combo. Perfect for daily drivers who want something louder than stock, but not "loud."

I'm not going to lie - doesn't look very sexy or look "cool"

But I think it sounds the best out of everything I've heard so far.

Nameless gets my vote

I was just saying that. It doesn't really matter too much, though. I questioned why they kept the original flange attachment location and routing, but their answer was good enough. We'll see if they need to make a new resonated midpipe to deal with the drone in the header, because that might change the game a bit.
