That's bat-shit crazy.

12k isn't a hard number to reach at all when building a quality turbo setup, especially custom. Custom takes more time and material isn't bought in bulk so the price adds up.

Ask people who bought cheap kits how much time/money they spent getting everything corrected, thats adds up fast too.

It really comes down to do you want to pay now or later, either way you have to pay to play.

Just to give you an idea of running a low level pump gas tune... here is a quote:

"
Our dyno reads low. Or should I say - reads realistically.

AVO Stage 2 Turbo Kit - $6000
AVO Breather Tank - $270
AVO BOV Kit - $270
Perrin 3" Exhaust - Resonated - $1000
Overpipe - $370
DW65C Fuel Pump - $150
ZT-2 with boost - $468
Perrin Gauge holder - $85
Clutchmasters Clutch and flywheel - $1000
Dyno Tune - $800
Labor - $4000
Tax / Shipping - $600

If you ready - we can get a deposit rolling and get the parts moving from Australia. "

Yeah, it adds up, and no, I didn't use them. That's not even running WMI and they're already over $15k.

For those that are wondering, that was Kaizen Tuning in Massachusetts. Was almost laughable dealing with them. Told them in the e-mail I wanted to trap 125, what do I need to do to get that and they suggested the above, which on a good day might get you about 110 mph they were thinking 300 rwhp would get me there. Unreal.

Guys,

Straight up, I'm new to BRZ but not new to this game. Had some pretty sweet rides in my time. With that said, so far I've added the quicksilver sport 3 inch exhaust. My 2013 brz is my daily driver, but it's a really needing some HP power but Im not looking to turn it into a drag race car.

I keep reading the articles on the pre made turbo kit with the ecu programmed so I took a some advise from a user on there and called a local shop to check on some prices.

12k I was quoted for a custom- tuned turbo kit. That's crazy! I just want a kit that will fit my current setup and if I blow a clutch later down the road , I'll slap in a nice one.

I know not everyone on here, is dropping 12k.

is your profile pic of a texas direct auto ebay listing?

Check out the Phantom ESC. For the price it can't be beat. Nothing else even comes close.
