Toyota Celica GT

So I was never really into the car scene until the past year or two, but I often see Celicas still roaming the streets and always knew that they were somewhat "sporty". Did the Celica ever have the same allure and attractiveness as the BRZ/FRS back in its prime?

When I first saw a BRZ I was impressed, fascinated, and knew I wanted one in the future. I don't ever recall being as intrigued with the Celica - in my opinion I often overlooked it, or never noticed it. Sometimes I think they look nice, but then I stare at them a little longer and lose interest - especially the rear tail lights.

I already believe that the 86 will leave a legacy, but do you think the Celica ever had anything going for it?

The only Celicas that had soul to me where when it was still RWD, after all, it spawned the Supra.
Those late 70's Celica GTs and early 80's Celica GT-S will always make me look twice. I would love to get my hands on one again.

edit: if i could get one of these... especially in white, I would not trade/sell it. I love me some 22RE engine.

I agree. The GT-Fours were used in Toyota's rally efforts, and those are fun cars, just very hard to find.

Seems like alot more love for the Pre-90s Celicas. Shame that you don't really see them on the road nowadays. They are much more appealing than the newer versions!

The GT-Four's are amazing cars. This is a local's here in STL

He did the full conversion (GT-Four RC)

Only 1,700 ever imported, 34 per state to reach the states

The FR-S/BRZ to me is basically a glorified Celica. FT-1 being the Supra.

If you're talking about the 70's/80's celicas above then yes I totally agree.

The FWD Celicas live on in the TC, not sure why that's so hard for people to swallow...

I had a 1982 celica GTS as my first car.. it was automatic but still loved it!

The 1971-74 Celicas are excellent. I would not hesitate to get into another. In my opinion, they are one of the best classic cars to drive. :-)
