I hurt my FRS.

So I'm in a terrible mood this morning..

As I was driving to class, I was making a left turn, past the middle of the intersection and some ass didn't signal and made a left coming from the other direction. Since he wasn't turning I was going to wait till he passed me and then turn left but instead he sped a sharp left and would have hit me had I kept going. So instead I make a sharp left and didn't clear the median.

I blame myself 99% but still, I'm angry. Now im sitting in my lab writing this angry post. Any idea how much this'll cost?

Does the tire look okay? (I'm not too much of a car guy).

Looks fine to me. I know how much it sucks though. Looks like a good excuse for rims and tires though ;)

Tire looks fine, the gouge doesnt look that deep.

As far as the wheel is concerned you can get a new oem one on ebay for like 200-250 bucks.

fang_gt86 07-17-2014 10:49 AM

Looks like just a scratch. I wouldn't bother getting a new one. That tear in the tire shouldn't be a problem.

A new stock rim will be pretty expensive at a dealership. But lucky for you they are for sale ALL OVER this forum. Other than that you should defiantly get an alignment and once over to make sure none of the suspension components are broken/bent/cracked.

I did worse "drifting." Your tire will be okay.

TCGMark 07-17-2014 10:54 AM

I know exactly how you feel. I have done that before and it's not as bad as you think. The damage is minimal. The rim can be repaired and it won't cost too much, or you can check the classified ads. People are selling their stock rims and/or tires for cheap.

Thanks guys,

I've found new rims for 200$ on google on some sites, I do like the OEM look though. I'll look around on the forums, I wonder if I could polish the scratches out... Do I go through my dealership to repair my rim? How else would I?

As long as I don't have to replace the tires, I only have ~ 2.3k miles on my FRS.

Tis but a scratch...

This^. You can find a full set of stock wheels and tires for $300-400

tobin 07-17-2014 11:01 AM

Single wheels can be had for $100 on the forum. No biggie.

If you were inclined to have your stock wheels sand-blasted and powder-coated, I bet that would dress those right up.

A local company called APC here in Bellingham did five Cromadora CD-3's for me at $65/each. They had some curb rash as well. The sand-blast, "Sparkle Silver" powder-coat and clear got them looking better than new.

I'd love to do my stock FR-S wheels in silver or bronze. Clear-coated powder-coat is pretty easy to wipe clean.

It will honestly cost more to repair the wheel than just buying a full set of used ones off of here.

Don't sweat it. This shit is how we learn and it happens to everyone. Just be glad it wasn't worse.

Ah, the joys of trying to interpret what shit-for-drivers are going to do :(

At least none of the paint or body work was damaged, and it was just a wheel and tire. All the more reason to bump replacing wheels up to the top of your mod list? If you don't plan on changing up your wheels and want to keep the stock ones, I'm sure you could order a new one from Toyota; I don't think that would cost all to much.
