FT86 on the backburner according to this month's EVO
Just saw this in EVO:
'....Our insider at Toyota, however, tells us that while this project has not been fully canned (talking about hybrid Supra replacement), it has been put on the backburner. Same goes for the 'new rear drive Corolla', the Toyota FT-86, and its Subaru twin brother, now postponed until 2013 due to the 'tough economic times'. Interestingly they mentioned talk of a 1.5 litre hatch which is RWD and with 108bhp and <1000kgs, which could be out in 2012. |
Lauren...you've been on the back burner!
haven't seen you here forever. |

To be fair, though, all we can do at the moment is speculate, guess it would be good if Toyota got things moving along. |

Don't go with the FD2's, I was infatuated with them like YEARS ago...and they never really stood out. Probably because it is not RWD. I would wait for the Next Generation "rx7", Mazda Miata, "supra", and "mr2" coming up. :sigh: |

Didn't Toyota just said the car was on track for Nov 2011?

Hachiroku posted that about a week ago here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693

people are taking it with a grain of salt because some of the stuff in that article are not what we've read elsewhere :iono:

Don't believe it. We'll probably be seeing a final production model later this year in whichever car show they decide is best.
