Has anyone heard of this? I just saw this video and it appears to be stupid easy and come out well but it seems too good to be true.

Yeh hydro dipping has been around a while...people do anything with it really...Ive seen people with mossy oak wheels on their trucks and such...common to do rifles this way instead of painting

A lot of things are Hydro dipped. A lot of gun manufactures use it to print camo patterns on gun stocks etc.

You'd generally put a clear coat over it, which is where your durability would be factored it. As far as it being reversible, no, I don't believe so; no more reversible than paint.

I had my side vents dipped carbon fiber and it looked good. It was the chrome sliver sections on the BRZ. I had no wear issues with power washing or rocks. However a hail storm did end up ruining them (also did 8,000 to the rest of the car). I have seen engine covers etc dipped and it holds up fine, but like any painted item if you scrap something against it, its prone to get damaged. Here are some pictures of it

I had the silver trim pieces hydro dipped and so far they have held up extremely well.

What does something like this cost for a set of wheels?
