Are the O2 sensors identical?

Does anyone know if the O2 sensors are the same, i.e., the same thread pattern?

Can you swap their positions?

Yes both are standard O2 sensor threading.

Threads yes, connectors are usually different though.

they shouldnt switch locations. each one performs specific functions.

They appear different too.

Thanks for the responses.

I was mainly concerned with the tread size and pattern. I just bought a used Rev Works header and I cannot get the O2 spacer to thread into one of the bungs. I wanted to check to see if they were the same. It appears they are.

It's fairly common for the threads to get damaged, especially if anti-seize wasn't used. I just went through this myself with the Miata in my family, the previous owner reused the stock O2's...but didn't apply new anti-seize. It took a torch to get them hot enough to release and the threads were still bad.


Luckily, as mentioned in your other thread, O2 bung thread chasers are abundant for this exact reason.

The O2 sensors are the same size but perform very different functions and you should never swap their positions.
