To drive or not drive without a hood...
I'm picking up a new seibon cf hood tomorrow, and I'm thinking of instead of borrowing a truck, I can remove the stock, hood drive 65 mph on the interstate for 100 mi (hoodless), and install the hood upon pickup.
Good or bad idea... Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk |
Weight decrease and extra cooling to the engine, why not? LOL

Any chance of rain? Serpentine belt might get a little squeaky. Other than that, I wouldn't think twice about it.

Ok cool, 90 and sunny in Northern CA

You know a bird is going to shit on you as soon as you take the hood off. And again when you put the new one on.

You'll just look like a ricer that's all, hoodless and with the cf hood.

Unless you plan on installing hood pins right away I think that's a bad idea. |
My only concern are your local laws. Will the coppers harass you? If it's down the street, that'd be one thing - but 100 miles means lots of opportunities for police curiosity.

Personally, I wouldn't drive 65mph with my engine unprotected. The roads may be better where you are, but in NY, there are lots of debris that might get picked up by the cars in front of you.

I think you'll be fine, just make sure you have all the tools/hardware you need.

Just do it.. Don't overthink it.
|
Why not just TAKE the tools and do the removal/install on the spot...
