On the way to work...

I am parking outside of our HQ today for a quick stop prior to heading back out. I see this pearl white BRZ coming down the road. I think to myself - cool!

Car swings around, does a U-turn and parks behind me.

I get out and a 20-ish dude gets out of his BRZ wearing khakis and a button down blue shirt. I say "Nice car!" he says "you too!" He then asked me if I knew where a specific address was. He said he was on his way to an interview. I asked "what are you interviewing for?" He said "warehouse".

I am the IT director for our company so I said "Hey, if that doesn't work out, here is my contact info - get in touch and we will arrange an interview."

And that is how easily job opportunities can fall from the sky.

"Cool story, bro." :burnrubber:

So you'd hire someone just because of what he drives?

No harm in giving the kid an interview.

He didnt say he would give him a job, just an interview.

Who knows. Maybe the kid is an IT genius.

No, but knowing who to talk to (or use as a referral) is infinitely better than what you put on your resume. And getting to the interview part means you've successfully bypassed 95% of applicants.

Still up to the applicant to prove their worth, but that's another story.
