Go catless and run stage2 map and you will have a big smile on your face. Worst case scenario just swap back your stock header.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If I run catless there will definitely be a noticeable smell, but if I have at least 1 cat it won't smell any different than stock?

@B-R-Z if youre going for straight sound i just threw a 2.5" catted perrin frontpipe on my car with my catback it sounds good and isnt annoying while cruising.

You better get a tune, if you switch out the headers.
|
kind of unrelated but where i come from, removing cats will get you a fine of $2k per cylinder

Ris Yes but I want the boxer rumble. I'm bored with my regular exhaust sound. Though, it is quiet and nice for my commuting. |

At the risk of a backlash from the owners, I'm not sure why us 86/FR-S/BRZ owners should consider ourselves "special" and able to ignore the emission laws.
I'm a long, long way from being a greenie but the air quality in our cities is so much better having emission controls for vehicles and more particularly industry. Just live with the cats guys and find other ways to get the performance/sound/looks you want. Unless you've gone FI we don't really own "performance" cars anyway. |
I have no problem running a cat but the catted headers are close to a grand, which I would never pay for a header. At that price you are almost paying a quarter of a turbo kit.

but with some of the others you can force readiness. My forester is catless and evap deleted, it passes the obd scan and readiness monitors fine and has for several years. |
