Cat pee inside won't come out
The short of the story is my girlfriend's cats Peed in my car and I don't know where. I took it to a detailing shop to get the entire interior shampooed and cleaned. I told the guy about the cat pee and he tried his best but the smell is back. Even worse on humid days.
I long for that new car smell I once had. My car is only a year old and would still have that smell if it weren't for the cat pee I am wondering if anybody has any ideas. |
It's probably soaked into the seat cushions or carpet padding by now. It won't be easy, but try the following:
Remove all seats, remove all carpeting, steam clean interior to best of ability without introducing damage to electronic devices, febreeze the shit out of it, clean the seats (remove seat covers, somehow clean the cushions, reassemble after drying thoroughly), reinstall interior. |
Get your car into a pitch black garage. A black light will show you where the stain is. It doesn't take much urine, so look carefully. Get something like this from PetSmart and completely soak the area. It will never get back to the new car smell, but it will help a lot.

Yeah the black light should pin point the ammonia that you may be smelling
|
Not to jump the gun but I'd guess once you find the spot, you will probably need to replace whatever the pee is on to get rid of the smell.
|
I want to hear the "long story".
Let me guess: Cat got accidentally locked in the car overnight? |
Cat pee is the fucking worst… OP, does your GF's place smell like piss too? I dated a girl once with the same issue and it was a deal breaker.

Cat pee inside won't come out
Black light of course! Fantastic idea.
Between the two of you those ideas should really help. I'll report back after trying. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm more curious why he was transporting his gf's cat, assuming she had a fully working automobile.

Cat pee inside won't come out
long story: gf and myself moved across the country. All of our crap in a uhaul and my car on a trailer attached to the haul. The cats were going ballistic in the cab with us and mid you this is a 15+ hour drive. So we covered the entire interior of my car with all the moving blankets we had and then put them in there. turns out that wasn't enough protection. i would have planned it out better but we both have very demanding jobs and i was on a tight deadline and pulling all nighters leading up to the move (i write orchestral sound design music for movie trailers)
