Daryl Harr's FR-S SCCA Race Car Build
I call her FRanken-Stein First things first… This has been just a RIDICULOUS Project (started in March of 2013)… And I would not be where I am at with out the help of some AMAZING partners… SO PLEASE - Follow their links - Send them thanks! - Tweet Them! Send them a box of chocolates. I would really appreciate it… And I know that they would. Oh and of course you could buy some of their parts  Scion Canada @scioncanada Facebook Scion Canada Toyo Tires Canada @toyotirescanada Facebook ToyoTiresCanada Whiteline Suspension Facebook Whiteline @_WHITELINE_ Corbeau USA Racing Seats Facebook Corbeau USA @corbeauseats K&N Engineering Facebook K&N Engineering @knfilters Seibon Carbon Facebook Seibon Carbon @Seibon_Carbon This car is 85% ready to go back on the road (race track)… If you have ANY questions about who, what, how, or whatever… Let me know, I am happy to support the FT86 community. A bit about me - I have been competing for 16 years in NASCAR, I have multiple race wins in NASCAR Canada, as well as a championship, the bulk of my driving career has been in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Lately I have competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series part time. Getting back to my roots a bit… Road Course racing has always been a passion of mine, from the first time I saw the FR-S, a lightweight, affordable, rear-wheel drive platform… Im in love. These are a far cry from the 700hp NASCARs that I am used to driving, but they are also 1000lbs lighter. My ultimate goal is to represent Scion (Toyota) in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge Series driving the FR-S platform… However today I am proud to announce that I have been accepted as one of only three road course drivers in Canada to be apart of the Scion Racing Contingency Program - so a BIG thanks to Scion Canada. The car will be making its on-track debut at Castrol Speedway in Edmonton Alberta in August of this year. Well… thats enough rambling… WHO WANTS TO SEE SOME PICS? IM EXCITED TO SHOW YOU! This FR-S said… When I die, I want to come back as a RACE CAR :party0030:
Here are the build pics in their entirety... Enjoy! |
Please tell me that you are going to race the car in a class that it truly belongs in such as TC or TCA or The Continental Tire Sports Car Series ST class. The Scion effort with KS Racing has been an unmitigated disaster. If you do, then you will have an instant fan in me. I have been hugely disappointed that no one has started racing the FR-S or BRZ professionally in a top tier racing series. It seems like such a natural fit and a great way to enhance the image of the car from a racing and marketing perspective. I am looking forward to more news on your efforts and progress.

Yeahh!!! My first friend!!! YES! TCA all the way… That is why this car has a number of performance and safety upgrades… But the only things done to the driveline is ACT Clutch (rotating weight), removal of the AC pump (rotating weight), 1-piece Driveshaft (rotating weight), and it should have an Accusump installed by the time it heads to the racetrack. There are a few other upgrades too… Like K&N Typhoon Airbox. Racecars are hard enough to keep in one piece - I don't feel like blowing out head gadgets trying to compete with Forced Induction cars… Ala KS racing (with respect of course).
The guys at SCCA have been great to work with! But I still need to get the car submitted for homologation as no Scion teams have entered the car last I heard. So that is a fair chunk of time and money, BUT its still the goal! And since you replied… Another picture for you! |
OK! Now you have my attention and support. I will definitely be clicking on those links and thanking your sponsors. I will also be looking forward to your debut in the car and trying to make it to a venue where you race. It is probably impossible for you to make Mid-Ohio this year I suppose?

Thank you very much! Really appreciate the support! And the only way I can get to racetracks are with those folks up above.
Its going to be cutting it close, but my hopes [and dreams] are to try and get to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele UT. That is a BALLIN track, they race there in September, along with NASCAR K&N… One of my most favorite places to race. Mid Ohio would be AMAZING, but thats pretty tight, and the money pit need to fill back up a bit… Hehe… ugh |

So… Step 1 - Figure out how to take EVERYTHING APART…
Doors, hoods, interior etc… Its like a reverse IKEA project… In Japanese. And you'd think me being Canadian Id have this metric stuff figured out. Yeah. No. |

You know, if you happened to have a Paypal account and would put a FT86Club.com decal on the car someplace then some of us might be persuaded to make a contribution. ;)
Bear in mind that I did not clear this with the forum Admin or Mods. It is just an idea to help get a FR-S into a professional series to "represent". |
AHHH You got me… Thanks… Stupid no spellcheck… me fixxie
