Novice Modder Requesting Help!

Hey guys! I recently just joined the forums and as of about a week ago i picked up my BRZ :)

I have a 2014 White/Premium/MT BRZ

My question(s) Are probably a repeat of many other peoples on this forum. But i don't want to get flamed or anything that this is a re-post i just want some genuine intelligent help.

Anyway! I have done a lot of research and have been looking at performance mods and exterior(But i can figure those out myself  )

I heard entire new intakes are waste and you don't get many gains, But a drop in airfilter is solid and about the same effect?

Just would like to see a decent list or some form of parts that are on the low end budget to get performance increases.

This is my daily driver, I plan on getting a vortech super charger sometime in the late future!

But for now just curious if there are the necessity mods, Maybe something on the car is very restricting and such!

Thanks guys :)

You are correct about the intake. The stock intake is good up to 300hp. A good drop in air filter like K&N is a nice add on.

The biggest restriction on the engine is probably the overpipe. Replacing that can get you about 10hp.

Before going forced induction I would probably get a header as well. If you want to buy the whole thing together, look at the OFT300 kit. It is a kit developed by vishnu tuning that uses the vortech supercharger but also include a header and a good tune.

This is the header i was looking at picking up once i get my next paycheck. And would get the drop in filter as well.

Also i do not have tons to drop on parts, but i will add them slowly so the package ordeal would not work for me.

Instead of slowly adding (as tempting as new mods are) I'd save up a bunch of money and do the package deal.

That would take a lot of will power :D but does make more sense. What are the leading superchargers out there? Innovate vs Vortech is really the main two correct?

I would definitely not be doing a turbo.

You could probably add at least this one to the list:

correct, stock intake is pretty damn good

this is not true. perrin proved almost no gain on a stock car. fullblown made 600whp on the stock overpipe which is 2.1 inches. there are plenty of us making over 450whp on a 2.5 overpipe. the muffler and exhaust manifold are the limits.

This is smart and what I recommend. Also a berk muffler delete is good sound for the buck, but when paired with a header it gets loud. So plan to do a header and a proper exhaust or a muffler delete and sell it when you get a header.
