Invidia Q300 Alignment issue

Hi 86ers,
does anyone here having problem with their Invidia Q300 cat back? mine driver side tip kept poking out more than the passenger side, I tried loosing the clamp from the muffler, loosing the bolts on midpipe and adjust the hangers, jack the car up and down many times but as soon as I took it for a short drive, the driver side tip pokes back out again.
Is there's any alignment problem with this exhaust? like factory issue? has anyone fitted them properly?
Should I take it to an exhaust place to cut it and weld it?

I am also taking my car to garage88 over the weekend, do they do welding there if they found to be the exhaust has issue from factory? I just want to get it done properly and forget about it, started to get sick of jacking the car up and down so many times and still not align properly.

Thanks all for your help in advance.

cheers,
ND

I don't have any experience with the q300 specifically, but can almost guarantee you can fix it with longer hangers. Check out torque solutions 12mm extra long hangers. Use them as necessary to get the alignment you want (i.e. mine is using 3 of 4 EL hangers to make it fit right)

I had the Q300 on the Cusco blue hangers (not long ones) and the fitment was spot on. I would check your hangers for one, but also try and loosen the connection to the midpipe and adjust from there.

The hanger you referring to is the rubber?

Had the same issue putting on my perrin catback after putting on the overpipe/frontpipe. We ended up loosening all joints after the front pipe, using a pry bar to push the exhaust to where we wanted it to, then tightening everything back. Perrin included small circular locking clamps for the rubber hangars so they dont move, so that may have helped as well.

Moved the hangers around on mine and it fit....try swapping the front and rear hangers on the muffler...might just work

I took it to local Garage and they think the exhaust is built like this and can not be fixed, it poke out 2cm and they think it's insignificant, but to me is just hurting my eyes. I searched and saw your youtube video, your Q300 looks perfect fit, I just bought Cusco heavy duty exhaust hanger from ebay as you suggested, hopefully can fit it properly like yours.
Did your Q300 poke out at all when you fit it with the stock rubber hanger? and how difficult is it to take the stock hanger off to replace with the Cusco ones? Did you replaced all 5 hangers?

I replaced them all. I just adjusted the catback before tightening it. 0 fitment issues. If you think it's defected, Invidia will warranty it. I think it just needs to be adjusted right.

I had the same issues at first. It turns out the slip-on joint was not all way in. And the clamp at that joint needs to be really tight.

The slip on joint im referring to is between the muffler and midpipe. It needs to be pushed all the way in

emphasis on this. You shouldn't be able to see a gap when it comes together. It should look solid with no line down the middle. In other words, VERY tight.

updates
I replaced all OEM hanger to Cusco ones, but STILL the same, well it's slightly better now the driver side is poking up 10mm more than passenger side, some say I have OCD but I paid for the exhaust under the impression it will fit like the stock ones, 10mm is not good enough. http://i58.tinypic.com/f2vb6g.jpg

Sleeper86 07-12-2014 09:12 AM

so I tried tighten the slip on joint like others suggested, and this happened, the bolt broke in two from over tightening, so I went to bunnings and got a replacement hex, used my dremel tool to make into a similar shape. http://i60.tinypic.com/j16j6h.jpg
