Winjet headlight quality

I was interested in replacing my headlights with the winjet jdm replica headlights with black housing. Can anybody comment on the quality of these headlights? Are they pretty flush when installed? Is the cutoff pretty good? Do they have condensation issues?

I've replaced my sidemarkers and turn signal lights with 6000k LEDs and I'd like my headlights to match. I could just do an hid conversion for my stock headlights but I really like the way the Winjets look as long as they are of pretty decent quality.

I have them. The cutoff sucks and the output is poor. I knew when i got them that i would have to do a full retrofit to them though. Now after the retrofit they are awesome.

I have them. I opened them up and resealed them myself so no fog issues like some people have. The cut off is pretty decent if you install and adjust them properly. A million times better then the stock lights and after comparing side by side to the brz lights I can't tell much of a difference. I actually thought my winjets were sharper. Not really worth the retrofit if you ask me.

6000k LED wont be an exact match to the LED strip on the winjets however. They are closer to 5000k.

Ok, perhaps I'll just wait until something better comes along. I'd like to match my headlights to my sidemarkers and turn signal lights but I don't do a whole lot of night driving so it can wait.

Anybody have any other ideas or options for me?

You won't really find any with 6000k strips or anything. That's too high in the spectrum for most OEMs they tend to do 4500 or 5000k. That's around the "pure white" point, they start to get a hint of blue at 6000k.

Did a morimoto retrofit and couldn't be happier. Light up the whole street/freeway when I drive at night.

Black stock housing? Mod is just time and cost of paint. I also have 5000k HID's up top, 3000k below

Gonna piggyback this thread since I don't need it warrants a new thread. Do the DRLs on the Winjet stay the same brightness with headlights on and off (assuming you did a DRL mod)? Would the DRLs be too bright for night time use?

Also how do the highbeams work? I have read the LED strips become the high beams but someone told me contrary as well. Thanks.

I have the Spyder Headlights but I believe they work the same as the Winjets when it comes to the DRL function and highbeams. Low and High beams are both the same light bulb with a flap that is fully open for high beams and down for the lowbeams ( the flap causes the the cut off which is lower on the drivers side than the passenger side so oncoming traffic is not blinded. So nothing needs to be adjusted to even them up, they are suppose to be that way). The DRLs dim when the headlights are on for night driving. The Spyder headlights differ from the Winjets in that they have a halo option model and LED turn signals built in Audi style. Not recommending the Spyder headlights to you, just sharing how this type of headlight works per your query.

Terrible cutoff and light output. Good fitment and looks good. I've opened mine up to blackhouse, and have resealed with no fogging issues.

Fett4Real 07-09-2014 03:40 PM

What bulbs are you guys with "terrible" output using? Ive got 5K bulbs no retrofit and the output is LOADS better then OEM Halogens....the cutoff isnt HID cutoff but its better then the stock Halogen cutoff by far with the HID bulb in it...I have the LED strip hard wired to come on when the car is on to the fuse box in the engine bay and the light output from them is pretty close to the 5K bulbs...I think for what they cost theyre worth every penny....Not Toyota OEM quality but definately better then some lights Ive seen in the past.

I'm using just the regular H7 bulbs that the winjets came with and I don't really have any complaints about the light output. From what I can tell it's comparable to the stock headlights/bulbs.

I wouldn't call it a complaint but I did notice that my passenger side headlight has a nice clean cutoff, but my driver side doesn't have as nearly a clean cutoff. Maybe this is just my set that's like this?

Other than that they're good enough for the price paid.

See my post above. Suppose to be that way.

I'm totally happy with my winjets. No fogging and no issues with light output. I think they work better than the stock lights. 10aded- I haven't done the drl mod. Stock out of the box the drl will turn off with low beams on and they will come on when the high beams are activated. Wizardhat is correct about the lights having a single bulb and a flap for high beams. You do have low beam and high beam with these lights.
