Probably works fine, burn the CD that comes with it.

What virus program did you scan with?

Good point!

I know I have that very CD around (Is it a small ~3" one?)
I also have the extractable files on my NAS drive (for another few seconds......)

I guess that applies to any product you get anymore.
Dont use any media that you get with a product unless it's from a reputable source (and most rep sources these days dont give any hardcopy media with the product).

At work we were even warned about USB cable/phone chargers from unknown sources.
Some intelligence gathering entity began sending out "free gifts" of phone & ipod chargers to people at US tech jobs. They received these in the mail at work.
Since the devices were also USB powered some of them managed to be plugged into computers at work.
The USB chip in the cable actually carried a trojan.....

How many USB phone cables have you ever found in your life and thought "I dont know where that came from, but I'll just use it...."?
Think again next time.

ive purchased one of these from a different company to use with my previous car. if all you want to do is read codes and dont necessarily need to clear them then this is a good buy. there are plenty of free mobile phone apps that can conenct to this and give you the code as well as many other parameters that the ecu can output in real time such as engine temp, intake temp, fuel flow, etc. If you want to be able to clear codes there are apps for that too but they are usually paid.

I bought a ScanTool, just pointing out the deal.

As an aside, I cannot understand why in 2014 Windows still has autoplay enabled by default
