Taxes on your 86
So when I imported my FR-S form Florida I paid almost $1,000 to get tags on it. I just got my renewal in the mail and the renewal is more than twice the cost of my wife's tC and almost three times that of my motorcycle.
What gives? I thought that since my car weighs less and gets better gas mileage that it has less of an environmental impact and less of an impact on the roadway. In Florida, my RX300 (a much bigger and less fuel efficient vehicle) was only about $90. :iono: |
That's a lot..... Mine were about $250. :confused0068:

I just got my renewal in the mail, $275. Cheaper than my Mazda3 after the first year though. Welcome to California? :P

the registration renewal fees have nothing to do with the size or fuel economy of the vehicle unfortunately. it is more like a property tax and therefore it is determined by the purchase price or the market value of the vehicle. that is why an older vehicle will have lower registration costs and a new vehicle the highest.

I believe it has to do with the age/value of the car. As it depreciates over the years, the tax liability and license fee goes down as well.

Well, that explains a lot. Thanks for the feedback!

I love NM right now (said no one ever), $44.50.
